[WIP] Actus Reus
Updated check here!
http://talk.maemo.org/showpost.php?p...8&postcount=26 This post has some relevance still, though. http://dl.dropbox.com/u/133178/presentation.png Proudly presenting Actus Reus. This is not for regular users. The theme is far from finished and there are missing pieces here and there. So, no warranty what-so-ever. I post it now to get some help with the finishing. So if you can't help then I don't think you shall proceed, this is only a kind warning. Most important at the moment is the volume indicator, try and you see what I mean. + Many more bugs in need of crushing. You need to have rootsh, humanity-theme and droid fonts installed if you want to use this theme. If you've got these packages then download thishttp://dl.dropbox.com/u/133178/actus_reus.tar.gz file and decompress it to your mydocs folder and run the following commands: Code:
cp -Rf /home/user/MyDocs/actus_reus/ /opt/usr/share/themes/actus_reusTransitions are from an old plastic version by D-Iivil and it contains some elements from the humanity theme eg icons here and there. If the authors have anything to say about my usage then send me a pm. And this theme is not made by the book. Please be kind and don't nag about it... |
Re: [WIP] Actus Reus
Looks decent... Thanks for the work! :)
My comment would be that the icons being used for apps seem to be slightly dull in color (Like Humanity theme). Similarly, the background for Application Mgr is a bit off-color. Disclaimer: This is my personal opinion; I'm sure a lot of people will like this. |
Re: [WIP] Actus Reus
The appmngr doesn't do gradients well due to colormode used in the rendering. And yes it's all a matter of taste, that is why I use this phone. :)

Re: [WIP] Actus Reus
Dude, please finish this. One of the top N900 themes available, hands down.
|
Re: [WIP] Actus Reus
Yeah, please finish! And maybe package and upload to repo
|
Re: [WIP] Actus Reus
Looks really good so far. Hopefully it can be finished up and then polished and packaged.
Good work. |

THIS IS AMAZING! Please keep working on this |
Re: [WIP] Actus Reus
Thank you for your kind words. Will at least polish things up when I have the time. Have been a busy fall, but I hope I'll get something done in December. There will be some changes, font to Ubuntu's, lockscreen and probably some bg's too. But unfortunately I don't have time right now.
But feel free to use my work and modify it if you want. Cheers my peers! |

Re: [WIP] Actus Reus
It's a lot easier than you think to upload to the repo... i had D-iivil helping me out on that. Go and make a user on http://garage.maemo.org.. then do a request https://garage.maemo.org/extras-assi...tation_request
If you are running Ubuntu it will be easy to build a package.. The folder structure must be the same as on the device. And then just cd to the folder and: sudo dpkg-buildpackage -sn -S It's little more than this.. but just to show you little. Great Theme by the way. It goes fairly well with my icon-theme.. just some small changes like active text color (thank god for Theme Customizer). One thing though... my calendar got a "3d" like text. How do i change that back to normal? |

Great, great theme! Amazing work really. I only have one small problem and was wondering if any one else has this. The contact shortcuts show up w/out a photo. Tried rebooting and switched themes just to make sure it's not a general issue, but unfortunately it is isolated with this theme. Any thoughts/suggestions are welcomed.
Thanks again for sharing though! |

Edit: file is called "ContactsAppletMask.png" and it's indeed missing. Copy the image from NSeries's or Digital Life's images -folder and you're good to go :) |

Edit: Thanks buddy. That did the trick :) Edit #2: D it works great if you use the theme as is. As soon as I use Theme Customizer on it (version 59), it makes the fonts extremely small and then when i open my settings, i can't do anything. If i click to any part of my settings it just highlights my selection and is unresponsive. Only way is to delete the theme folder and do everything from scratch again. |

The shadowed text is used in a few places. I haven't looked at theme costomizers code. But my gtkrc is quite ChuckedNorrised so to say and I can do a not-so-bold guess that this is the reason why there are incompability-issues with the app. My major problem with this theme is how inconsistently labels, list and buttons are used in different apps. Not to mention that third-party developers hard-code white font-colors everywhere. This has given me great problems, and the only way around that is to write app-specific rc-styles. Which then on the other hand will make the theme even more slow. And that is not feasible in any way... |
Re: [WIP] Actus Reus
I am doing some minor modifications on your theme.. but fails to find the image for the curving above the radioactive icon. I want to improve/strengthen that corner. It looks now like if it has opacity. What is it's name?

wmButtonRightHalf.png
wmLeftButtonEnd.png wmRightButton.png And I myself have been bugged by it.*I decreased the filling in a dumb way and the result is that the line is not a coherent 1px line but some 0.8px. The dropdown menus are made correctly. You might want to pay some intérest to wmEditModeButton* those are quite bad right now too. |

The thing is that the volume notifier, eg volume bar and speaker is not a part of the theme itself, but rather a part of the icon-theme. I was planning to create a variation of faenza supporting this but it hasn't materialized yet. But since you are working on an iconset you could very well create a set of light indicators. At the moment I can't recall the names of the icons, but if you browse through the hicolor theme I think you can find them. Short version, part of the icon-theme. EDIT: The icons for the speaker are fond @ hicolor/48x48/hildon/notification_volume* , I have no idea where the "bar" is located though, and the ui-elements documentation has been less than helpful. |

Greetings!
Things are humming along nicely. I didn't go to work today so, I made some tiny progress. The result can be viewed below. With Actus reus, version Bona Fide. Changes: Ditched the droid font: replaced with Ubuntu. Clearer at small sizes and have a softer feeling. Get it here: http://font.ubuntu.com/ Added: Stylusbuttons. Shaped up other buttons too. Working Contacts-widget. Another wallpaper and different backgrounds. Eg, lucid by Canonical. New lockslide. It is awesomely wicked. Shamelessly stole the setupwizard from humanity-theme. Still need help with one thing before building an installable package. As you know the gtkrc is heavy modified, mostly to get the text-effect on buttons. But the effect is also applied in places where it looks really out of place. And also the volume indicator. So please, help me with this! Re: [WIP] Actus Reus
Very cool update. Looks pretty Ubuntu 10.10ish, which actually looks like Ubuntu (unlike the Humanity theme, which is just a few wallpaper and icon changes). Still holding out on the volume banner but it's not too important. Did a few mods like shrunk the "AE" for the task switcher by 33%, flipped a few gradients highlights so that the darker part is on top (looks flatter and inverted, I like it better - personal preference). Theme is great.

Have there been any progress on this theme?

Overall, this theme is a beauty and i think i am gonna do a few modifications myself to match my needs :p. Edit: I think its time I try what i can do in editing this theme to make a few variations here and there. |
Re: [WIP] Actus Reus
Can you replace the menu button with a "normal" icon instead of the maemo logo? Like this theme, is there also a deb installer?
|
Re: [WIP] Actus Reus
Could the author give not only the instructions to install, but also the instructions to uninstall this theme?
Thanks |

|
Re: [WIP] Actus Reus
Open the terminal and then..
1. sudo gainroot 2. rm -r /usr/share/themes/actus_reus Would remove it from the system. |
Re: [WIP] Actus Reus

But you should probably be prepared to do some tweaking your self too as this is an WIP (work-in-progress) and the author seems to have stopped working on it. |
