They had the same problem at the beginning of the MM9 release. A pity they didn't learn from that.

Now, I'm going to assume that you aren't an ignorant fool nor are you trolling, as naive that might be. Maybe you just didn't understand the question, namely, why isn't Sygic distributing the update as a legitimate torrent, thus saving bandwidth they obviously don't have.

To answer that:

It might be somewhat difficult to limit access to the torrent to paying customers only. Also, they'd have to distribute maps separately instead of one insanely large blob, which they seem to prefer.

Just realised why the download sizes differ.
I have maps for all europe which is 1.8gb whereas some may have maps for only 1 country hence 200mb:o

So am I correct in that this Sygic 10 update is ONLY for the version 9 bought from Sygic.com or does it update the Sygic OVI versions as well? Cause I see you can buy the complete Sygic 10 from the Sygic site.

Wasn't there an earlier update/bugfix or something for the Sygic(site version 9 to) that never got to the version 9 that was on the OVI site (cause you had to use a sygic repository) that only worked for the Sygic.com version?

My point here is, (I have tested the OVI version) Nordics, what I need, but to buy from Sygic.com I need to get Europe which I don't need, just to be able to get updates?

Please clarify this for me.

Sygic store only. If you bought from Ovi you need to wait for the update to hit Ovi store.

As for the slow speed, just wait to the next day for the servers not to be so slammed.

Yep. Nothing happening on the download front. Can't even connect to it now. Sygic should have thought about the implications of numbers of users trying to download at once.

would it really be a problem that that big zip was also downloaded by persons who dont have a key?
I guess it would be simple anyway to get it if you know where to look for.

Also now i can share the link with somebody or share a torrent. That would be the same for both...

We had the same problem when maps 9 was released. Sygic said they should update their server. Wonder if they did that or if we soon get the same message again.

Well I think the problem is in how they choose to bundle it.

The maps might be able to be "pirated".

Though the actual navigation software is useless without a key (which the pirated versions are all using the same key so it shouldn't be to hard to invalidate the license)l.

this is just dramatic.. first try was 12hrs ago.. and with 10 seconds from 500kb/s to 5kb/s...
tryed to re the download.. and failing ever since...

I've got my Mobile Maps 10 activation code generated from the Sygic website. Now I'm trying to download the actual mobile maps 10 package from:

This link is beyond dead. Completely unresponsive. Is this the same link others are using or is there another one that might work better to get the mobile maps 10 zip file?

Whoa whoa there. The sygic zip file link I posted was obtained by doing a google search finding this:

This link doesn't contain any secret Sygic information. Even if the download works, it requires that you register with Sygic and obtain an activation code. No codes were shared so what's the problem?

Yeah, I read the whole thread. I also read that several users were able to get at least a partial download even if it was slow. The link I was using was completely non-responsive.

So I was simply asking if it was a valid link or if there was a better one to use.

My customer service email from Sygic was in HTML that my webmail client wasn't displaying properly, so I just deleted it and headed over to Sygic.com to find the update. When that didn't work, I began a google search for the upgrade URL. Upon finding this one:

It was a dead link. At that time I decided to engage the community to verify if it was a valid link that was just busy, or if it was a dead end.

Why that attitude? Why is the URL being treated like it's proprietary information? It in no way compromises the activation code required to use the application.

Well the server is the same but the hash is different.

We must wait for less traffic but posting the links will only increase it.
