Re: Return of InternetTabletTalk?
This is a good idea. We can then send all people with Nokia complaints directly to Nokia forums where they belong. Trolling has become the order of the day around here since the N900's release.

Re: Return of InternetTabletTalk?
I don't think it'd do anything to do with the trolling or the whining. People will go to the primary/best place they can find to do that - and ITT:TNG would be aiming to be the primary/best place it can.
However, as has already been mentioned, it's going to be very difficult to form a community around a concept like the "walkaround web" when most people will have a single device. Finally, you need someone to run it. Reggie's now running forum.meego.com, talk.maemo.org and forum.allaboutmeego.com. A new site would need: a server, an admin, a skin and a community. And it almost certainly wouldn't be the Maemo community that you'd move there wholesale - you'd have to start from scratch. Anyway, the actual costs of running talk.maemo.org are fairly low, I don't think we need to worry about *.maemo.org being shut down soon. And beside, Google Ads can always be reintroduced and/or community fund set up. |
Re: Return of InternetTabletTalk?
If "they" ever do shut down maemo.org, I hope they will just close off new activity and leave it as an accessible archive, a sort of read-only; because there's a lot of useful information in it that can't be found anywhere else. If I ever had to flash my N800 or N810, I'd be lost re-building it without access to posts on this forum. I assume it's the same for N900 users.
As I have said elsewhere, something needs to be done to separate out the Maemo stuff from the Meego stuff once Meego is launched. Is the idea that this forum will be only legacy and all Meego devices and topics will be solely on forum.meego.com? |
Re: Return of InternetTabletTalk?
How about burning all bridges to Nokia. Lets see how Nokia does with no "community driven support".
Its like cutting that string that attached you to your mother, long time ago. It might help, in the long run for Maemo end even MeeGo. Regards |

Re: Return of InternetTabletTalk?
Does anyone know of any good non-denominational tablet forum?
You know, like the mythical one we're talking about in this thread... |

reggie and rafe set up allaboutmeego forums so end users could go somewhere and discuss specific device's with dedicated forums to vendor handsets, which i applaud them for. |
