Re: Sygic 10 Bugs
I've not had any massive problems with v10.
Yes it does need sorting out with respect to power usage and responsiveness, but it is nicer than v9. |
Re: Sygic 10 Bugs
What happened to user "SygicSupport" who has been registered for much longer than "Sygic Support"?
This looks dodgy. New user with 1 post asking for IMEI numbers? |

But please notice one thing - with so many customers spread over continents, it is very difficult to get to a status where every single customer will be totally happy with the product. Furthermore, our customers would not be comfortable if we only provided fixes to existing products and never come up with something new. But obviously, fixes are top priority and we are focusing on them. Stay tuned. Thank you. |

attention, this has not been posted by Sygic. Please do not send emails with your imei to support at sygic.com. Our support is now snowed under with emails which responded to the above request. Responding to your inquiry may take longer due to the load. Apologies. Thank you. |

Yes apologies. I noted the email address was correct so couldn't see that it was false. There you go. Here's your apology!

Re: Sygic 10 Bugs
I just thought I'd add my two pence. Same here, the last three trips to different locations in the UK were all the same, constant freezing, crashing, signal loss, re-boots. Also the same issue with voice guidance on distance to route changes. At 0.6 miles the voice demands "Turn left" instead of "after 0.6 miles, turn left". The count down to the direction change continues with no distance instructions, just further demands to turn, go over roundabout, keep right, whatever. This is quite a problem if you rely mainly on voice guidance. I now have to keep my eyes on the screen to check the distance on the display in order to avoid taking a wrong turn. This is dangerous, very dangerous. I'm using the English female voice, don't fancy a camp American telling me where to go! Distances are set to miles and yards.
The functionality of this latest v10 is in my view actually worse than the updated v9. As a voice guided mapping program, v10 is a fail, whereas v9 was completely usable, if a bit erratic on its route choices. |
Re: Sygic 10 Bugs
Glad to hear that it's not me being totally mad with the 0.6 mile Voice instruction.:)
|
Re: Sygic 10 Bugs
I had the same issue with turning. It just said turn right very abrumtly.
I solved this by changing voices from the female UK voice to the male UK voice. It now gives the whole "In 600 metres turn right". I have to agree with most peoples comments on here though V9 updated did not have half as many bugs. The new features in V10 are nice but seem to have been played off in terms of functionality. |
Re: Sygic 10 Bugs
Mhh... I'm currently trying to install the SMM10 Trial via Ovi Store, but it always tries to install version 9.
Is it still not approved by Nokia? If it matters - I'm in germany and this is my apt sources.list: deb https://downloads.maemo.nokia.com/fremantle/ssu/apps/ ./ deb https://downloads.maemo.nokia.com/fremantle/ssu/mr0 ./ deb https://downloads.maemo.nokia.com/fremantle1.2/ovi/ ./ deb http://repository.maemo.org/extras/ fremantle-1.2 free non-free deb http://repository.maemo.org/extras-devel fremantle free non-free deb http://repository.maemo.org/extras-testing fremantle free non-free |
Re: Sygic 10 Bugs
Thanks for the tip Casper27. I hadn't looked at the new voice options in v10 and 'Simon' sounds okay compared to v9's 'Lucien' male voice. I'll give it a bash on my next trip, can't say I'll be switching to kilometres and metres though, and this may be the root of the problem. Fingers crossed it isn't.
Now, if only it didn't keep crashing every few miles. I nearly picked up a speed camera last night because I hadn't noticed it had frozen on the A30 back from Cornwall... |
Re: Sygic 10 Bugs
Any news / date of a v10 update ?
This new v10 needs a lot of processing power and drains the battery really fast. When in use the drive process is at 75% cpu most of the time! I don't know if it is only in my system but using sygic v10 for an hour reduced my full charged battery to 50%. With v9 i could use it for more than 3 hours. |

This is not an acceptable solution but it has made the ordeal more reliable. Maemo made some changes to how it handles sound in PR1.2. This problem was also present in MM9 for me as well, after the PR1.2 upgrade. Another thing I learned when pulling together custom POI's in MM9 was that this app will also freeze when bad poi data is used. The POI collection would install with no indications of a problem until a POI with bad info like a "&" or some other character in a label came into view on the screen them bam, the dang thing would lock up. I'm also thinking if this problem persists in MM10 after disabling sound, The only POI's that were added by Sygic that are different in MM10 are the speed cameras. If it seems to freeze up only when a certain speed camera icon is on the screen, try disabling the new speed camera feature. Like I tried to say earlier in this post, if the POI data is correct it won't freeze up. so even if you have seen and have used the speed cams in the past on other routes, it does not guarantee that all speed camera's in the data base are correct. I'm just saying note all screen, hildon notifications, and sound events when a freeze up occurs and maybe Sygic can sort it all out. :) BTW, I also know that this is no consolation for those who expected to have all of these features function for the price that they paid. However, some of us paid 3 times as much for WayFinder on the N800 & N810 and even with these features disabled, MM10 is easily twice as good. Navicore, then Wayfinder after taking our money, was never heard from again. Sygic at least has maintained a presence on our forum and continues to provide upgrades and support... and that's a good thing. I also think that because of Hildon's peculiarities (particularly how it handles events); TomTom, Navigon, Co-Pilot, or any other navigation software ported to the N900 would have some of these same difficulties. I doubt that they would have devoted as much time and energy as Sygic has, getting up close and personal with its users on this board. :) But hey, I'm just some dude surfin' the intertubes and this is just my opinion. :) It is also my opinion Sygic Support dudes, that time should be spent understanding what changes were made by Maemo with regard to sound in PR1.2. Also, your POI plug-in needs help as it should be able to ignore/handle bogus or malformed data without a crash. |

Also, the new "full screen feature" would be great if you could still get access to your apps running in the background - music player aka. Although considering how much CPU it uses I guess it makes no difference. I'm strongly considering swapping back to MM9 cause this is so frustrating or just using my good old N810 with WayFinder for navigation.. |

Re: Sygic 10 Bugs
Installed update and works fine, however one of the changes was :-
- Exit button moved to first menu page in order to make it easier to exit the app But it has not moved and is still on the secod page  |
Re: Sygic 10 Bugs
Can anyone confirm:
1) Start writing an SMS using the keyboard 2) Start SMM10 3) Press ctrl-backspace and return to the SMS 4) Keyboard input no longer works This isn't unique to SMS writing, it seems SMM10 screws up keyboard handling. It's one step forward, two steps back with Sygic at the moment. With this bug and the no-voice-navigation-with-screen-locked bug, we're still not back up to SMM9 functionality yet. |
Re: Sygic 10 Bugs
Yes, your keypresses actually go into smm10. When you switch to x-terminal you can actually see the cursor is first a filled rectangle, and when smm10 takes input focus the cursor in x-terminal is no longer filled.
The no-navigation with locked screen is probably an Ovi requirement. |

Re: Sygic 10 Bugs
Still has the problem of 'TURN LEFT' even if the turn is 1/2 a mile away. It doesn't say turn left in 900yards or whatever which sounds like it is missing some voice files for the UK Woman's voice. Works fine with the Ozzy woman though.
ALso, there is still the annoying - 'Go straight over the roundabout - take the third exit'. In fact that turn or exit could be first, second, third, fourth or whatever. It always says go straight over the roundabout. |

The SMM9 update (a few months after the initial SMM9 release) enabled navigation with the screen locked. So I'm hoping that this is just a regression. |
