YoDude, the council has worked for most of us. It's just there are users here that have been here no more than 9-10 months that just don't understand what this community is here for, and, have probably only just heard about the Council, and are grasping at the possible opportunities this new resource may give them in getting Flash 10.1.

Oh. and if it doesn't give these users 10.1, then they'll just continue moaning and berating the real community members here on maemo.org

I say the council should work on a user engagement forum, where they can moan all the want and leave us alone until they have something worth while to say :)

You're just getting really annoying now. You are not a member of this community, you're a leech. You've been here for a few months and you think you're suddenly on some crusade. Get a life.

Maemo is not dead, Nokia may not be continuing development, but that doesn't mean the platform is dead. All of us that actually do something for this community, as long as we have working N900's I'm sure we'll continue writing interesting applications and doing interesting mods to the device, whilst it is running Maemo.

You on the other hand will run off to some other forum which is semi-related to whatever device you decide to get next.

Start being a constructive member of this community or walk on please ...

We're in the middle of what looks like a civil war, including lack of direction and a severe repetition of http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1spa_ASeHc0 making this a bizarre environment to do things in.

I don't personally think this community is capable of doing any major undertakings right now* regarding OS.

* My view is that any major undertakings regarding OS should be done through the MeeGo project framework. No use beating what is essentially yesterday's platform. And this goes for the N8x0 work too. At least people like smoku try to do the right thing and rebase hildon-desktop on top of MeeGo and help bring libhildon to a nice state in MeeGo.

Just saying that the real community, has been here a lot longer than the people that you see yourself representing, and, who are generally quite ignorant to how we operate here.

The Council is a part of how we operate. It's how the developers and enthusiasts here raise important issues with Nokia, and how Nokia can communicate resources to the community.

You're not in this community, because you don't do anything for us. Help or leave. I'm not being nasty, I'm trying to be pragmatic. You obviously don't like what you've got, so ditch it and move on ...

I must have missed the poll you ran on this one. Anyway, I don't feel that Windows is complete either, or Linux, or Symbian. Maemo has all the features I need, and the N900 is the best-performing phone I've used (for my requirements).

I dont give a stuff about Nokia supporting Meego on the N900. What I care about is Nokia opening up enough of the software to allow Meego to be run on the N900, with or without support.

As has already been said (multiple times), what the Council can do is report these issues/concerns to Nokia. What the community can do is either write software to work around the issues, write (formal, polite) letters to Nokia execs complaining (and preferably offering suggestions), or vote with their feet (and money) and pick another phone next time.

Thank you Rob1n, I forgot to say that I was waiting specifically for PR1.3 and didn't really give a crap about anything Maemo afterwards. :)

Cannot agree more here and for sure this community lacks direction and is turning out in some cases to be a battle ground mainly because of the N900 device.

Yes i agree Meego is the way to go in any event but i would wait and see how successful Meego is before considering a name change for this community perhaps?.

I spoke very simply in the moment. So far you're the only one in the conversation here to assume the worst of it that I can see.

What I was talking about was the possibility. Yes, this should have been one of if not the most important term(s), but there were so many unknowns that any statement I made along those lines was more of hope and intent than anything else. I didn't say that to mislead anyone and I'm not changing my outlook in hindsight now. It's just that the reality did not match the hope, and I made it clear at the time that it was a possibility.

So please, YoDude: separate hope/intent from outcome.
