21 of each app in app menu!!! help
 
my fone was running fine until i done this

all i done was add some icons to the icon folder and copy the ovi.desktop and edit it for some shortcuts
now i seem to have on average 21 icons of each app in the app menu meaning 1000s of duplicate apps and a very very slow fone for about 10 mins after a reboot


whats caused this???

i done all the stuff thru winscp - open ssh so was all drag and drop i dont c what i have done to cause this!!
can anyone help me or give me some pointers on where to look?


i have also added reboot into the power button menu
and created a few shortcuts in winscp in the root menu to go directly to some folders they were done after the slow fone tho

took about 20 mins 2 load!!
it starts like that and is 20 or 21 of each app

just go into the folder where you have all the .desktop icons and see if theres anything weird in there. also try removing whatever you added in there.. so if it gets okay after that.. you will b sure its sth you did nt sth else tht hpnd...

what do you get when you do

ls /usr/share/applications/hildon

do you see loads of duplicate .desktop files?

nope was no duplicates


i removed everything i done booted up n it was fine again so slowly added everything back in slowly a few at a time and checked and its all working fine ??? lol fixed now anyway


1 question though
in the desktop file it has X-HildonDesk-showintoolbar=true
what does that do?? i changed it to false on some hoping it wouldnt display them in the app menu but they still do

Not that I know anything about this, but if you'd stop messing with things that you don't know about I reckon these errors wouldn't happen to you..

One question all ur shortcuts work? i mean since u have 21 of each if u press for example one of the 21 shortcuts for contacts all work or only a few or one?
