Where is the wlan component inside the n900?

Hello guys,

I was wondering where does the WIFI component stays inside the N900. Is is close to the:

1) back camera?
2) the front camera?
3) camera shutter?
4) botton of the phone, near the keyboard key "space"
5) botton of the phone, near the keyboard key "enter"
6) botton of the phone, near the keyboard key "fn"

I am asking this because I want to use a wifi that is available for me, but its pretty far away from here, and the signal works only when I lift my phone to the height of the window. It does not works on my desk, as there is a concrete wall nearby. I realize that laying the phone on the top of a locker (where is near the window) the wifi doesnt work, but laying the n900 in the same place but upside-down the signal of the wifi does works.

I was wondering where does the wifi component stays inside the n900 so I can think the better way to lay my n900 on the top of the locker to get the best wifi signal.

Sorry for my bad english..

:)

Re: Where is the wlan component inside the n900?

Edit: I've made a mistake. Please accept my apologies for giving you the wrong information. Sjgadsby is absolutely correct. I wrongly said the wifi antenna was the bottom L shaped one - it's not, that's the Cellular antenna. Sorry. (Brain fart)

The WiFi / Bluetooth antenna is at the opposite end - the plastic looking thing above the camera.

The actual WiFi chip itself is obviously on the motherboard, but it's located on the keyboard half not far from the front facing camera - just a little to the right.

The position of the chip itself is not terribly important - however for a good description of the internal organs find yourself a copy of the L1 - L2 service manual.

Nokia_N900_RX-51_Service_Manual_L1L2_v1_0.pdf

The L3 - L4 manual more clearly shows the position, but this document isn't so easy to find.

Again, sorry, I messed up.

Thanks very much!!
That was a really quick response and it will certainly be very useful for me and for whoever needs some slight signal improvement!

While the service manual shows greater detail, even the user guide that comes with the N900 illustrates the location of the WiFi/Bluetooth, Cellular, and GPS antennas. Page 19.

(And the WiFi/Bluetooth antenna is located at the top edge, not the bottom.)
