Re: All Telephony Functions Disabled
^ just an update, i sent my phone into nokia care center in Texas here in the states. and they called me saying that my phone is out of warranty (which I know since it's been almost 2 yrs, and nokia US only covers for a year). I asked if they can look into the repairs and give me an estimated cost for the fixes. but they said I can't even pay for fixes, they only cover warranty fixes -_-
so they can't do anything with my phone *sigh* besides sending it back. this telephony functions disabled is really a pain in the ar$e >_< guess ill just look for a used n900 at a reasonable price and use this one for playing around. |
Re: All Telephony Functions Disabled
If you pay for repairs, why don't you ship it to a Nokia center that does repairs? They don't care where it's bought if you pay for it. Shipping isn't a killer.
Do you know anyone in a better covered country? If not, ask some other care centre if they repair and ship back. |
Re: All Telephony Functions Disabled
FWIW I just had this problem. it was solved by flashing the eemc and then the fiasco image (from Linux), just like the docs say. I'm not saying this would work for everyone, but it's the most likely fix for most people.

Re: All Telephony Functions Disabled
Good, that flashing helped you :)
Not so good for me:( |

Re: All Telephony Functions Disabled
strip the phone down mate, cover the main board with isopropyl then give it a scrubb with a old toothbrush or something similar. This happened to me only 2 days ago, dropped my N900 into a pint of cider, woke up and had the same problem as you. worked a treat

I've had this problem and sent back to Nokia under 2 year EU warranty. I received an "upgrade" back of a brand new E7-00. Gutted!

Re: All Telephony Functions Disabled
Now i know this sounds daft but i have the same issue as the OP and have managed to fix it. I got some toilet paper and cut it to the shape of a sim card about 6 layers thick, put the battery on top and booted it up, so far a month without the problem popping up where as i used to have it daily.
I may not know how to do the coding for this phone (or even enter one for that matter) but please at least humour me and give this a try :) |
Re: All Telephony Functions Disabled
Reddevil,
I am trying in this way now, Instead of 6 layer thick paper, I placed another old simcard on top of my sim card and then placed battery on top. I am seeing +ve result now. Let me see how many days it works, I will again post result after one more week. |
Re: All Telephony Functions Disabled
Meanwhile I also found this. If any one can try in below way also

Re: All Telephony Functions Disabled
Hello Guys,
I found one so called 'FIX' for the "Comm error... on N900" Little risky yet easy to perform. Here it goes... After you remove SIM card from its slot, there are 6 pins which connect your Phone to the SIM card. You need to take a forceps or blade & lift them 6 pins on the Phone. < MAKE SURE YOU DON'T PUT MUCH FORCE, YOU MIGHT BREAK THEM > It is an alternative for the tissue paper method posted on other forums :p Regards...
