Everything was fine until 21st August. Battery drain was normal.

Now the phone get VERY hot - cpu load is high when on standby

when i unlock, it stops, i cant work it out!

See my battery eye graphs - sorry if they are in wrong order

Help is appreciated!!

Thanks

Hi,

Look like you installed something, try to log into a terminal and use top to see what drain your cpu. or use conky if installed

Re: HUGE battery drain

If nothing helps, reflash your phone.

List your apps here with command
maemo-list-user-packages
In xterm

Look there. The advice given there will fix your problem. If not you need to flash the device.

Re: HUGE battery drain

I find battery drain is either linked to 'devel' and 'testing' repositories. So try disabling them and removing anything you really don't need that comes from them. Saves having to reflash.

I also find tracker-indexer is the one chewing my CPU at 83% and upwards, nearly all the time. That drains battery and is part of the reason I hate this phone, spends all day indexing and reindexes when I turn it on, off, shake it, move it, put it in my pocket, use it. Phase of the moon etc. So how much media is on the device?

Also auto disconnect doesn't work for me all the time. I have had wireless on and fallen asleep, not had it disconnect and woken up to a dead phone because it doesn't drop connection.

Looking at your list of apps, "facebook sharing" is most likely candidate to want to connect all the time? Might be worth removing that for a bit, and reinstalling autodisconnect.

Re: HUGE battery drain

I would check these apps

battery 0.3 user/desktop 176
conversations-inbox-widget 1.1.1 user/desktop 96
cpumem-applet 0.0.3 user/utilities 64
custom-operator-name-applet 0.1 user/desktop 100
desktop-cmd-exec 1.10 user/desktop 144
proximityd 0.2.2 user/system 88
wifi-signal-applet 0.4 user/desktop 116

You have installed mobile hotspot. check that itīs not running. It eats battery very fast. Or if you use it then...well do not be surprised :)

Also if possible you can attach list of currently running processes

start xterm
Code:

cd MyDocs
ps -b -n1 >top.log

send top.log to this thread

i think the others are all ok as i have had them for a while causing no problems, i'll do some uninstalling and see what the outcome is. the one im worried about is proximityd as i uninstalled that when uninstalling shortcutd ???
EDIT - i mean it does not show anymore on the program list
i cant get send top.log to work. i get:

Code:

send: not found
