Re: New n9 specs from the people with the prototype
Like the look of the spec list and the geek in me is ready to hit the pre-order button, but the responsible side of me will wait to see how it meego pans out.
If I had to guess, I reckon I will put meego on my n900 and wait to see if it gains mass market acceptance. I do like my n900, but I have started to see apps for blackberry/andoid/iphone that I want and I know maemo has too small a user base for developers to really get behind it.. |
Re: New n9 specs from the people with the prototype
this looks more and more like a joke??
I mean 1200 px resolution display and 12mpix camera, 1ghz qulcom and 1gb nand??? yeah right.... and some says price 450eur this is not possible... those specs is 90% ********. with that spec and rumored price no one would buy n8 and instead buy n9 how likely is that?? Now we really need some official statement. we doesn't even now if "rumored phone" even will be released. Below is more normal spec as I see it: Around 900mpix display 512 MB nand 512 MB sdram. 32mb eemc. 8mpix camera hopefully bt v3 hopefully nfc? omap cortex A8 |
Re: New n9 specs from the people with the prototype
There wont be an official statement until there's an official announcement. Speculation is a fun sport, but it's not going to yield any hard facts.

Re: New n9 specs from the people with the prototype
N900 uses OMAP 3430 which is 65nm and clocked to 600mhz. TI lists 650mhz as top for this one. OMAP 36XX series are 45nm Cortex A8 in which TI says OMAP 3640 can clock to 1.2ghz. Most likely N9 will be a OMAP 36XX model as OMAP 4XXX (which are Cortex-A9) will not be coming out till early 2012.

Using the 12MP camera module in the N9 may also make sense financially (after all Nokia are already buying millions for the N8) and Nokia have put in a considerable amount of effort in order to get stunning pictures and 720p video from the N8's 12MP sensor - using that knowledge in MeeGo shouldn't be too difficult. Bluetooth 2.1 on the N9 would be another backward step when the N8 already has BT3.0, so why do it? The N9 must have BT3.0, nothing else makes sense. 512MB NAND (double the N900) and using the same optify trick to use some of the 32GB flash for app storage would be fine with me. 512MB SDRAM would be essential as 256MB is probably only just enough on the N900 - 1GB SDRAM is probably excessive and may have a negative impact on battery lifetime. And since the N900 is the reference platform for MeeGo it makes no sense to target anything other than OMAP3/Cortex-A8. |

I dont say people are wrong about this but could find info about it on european nokia site on n8 specs? hope it is correct cause BT v3 will save some power too if I remember right :) |
