I don't so much have anything against Apple or their products. I do have a problem with Steve Jobs blatantly stealing other people's work and claiming it as his own.

To the OP's points which have already been well covered:

1. if it wasnt for apple, people wouldnt have a sweet music store(itunes)

Um - no. iTunes was born out of a search for legalized music downloads which were first popularized by Napster. Prior to that, music was available for purchase online mostly in RealPlayer format. (remember when they were the king of codecs before totally screwing it up)?

2. if it wasnt for apple, people were forced to use windows.

Yes - and Apple is so popular in the desktop world that a whopping 8% of the total PC population uses Macs. Forget about the 50 or so other operating systems available on the market besides Windows.

3. if it wasnt for apple, there would be no touch screen phone till 2011.

Not even close. The USA has historically has lagged behind the rest of the world with regards to cell phone technology (until very recently). Even with that, the first touch screen cell phone available in the US was the Kyocera 6035 palm phone introduced all the way back in 2000.

4. if it wasnt for apple, there would be no angrybirds.

Really?? Exactly how does that reasoning work? Can I try? Hmm... if it is wasn't for Microsoft, there would be no solitaire games.

Not really, technology evolves. Companies innovate and compete. Look at the videogame market. Nintendo added motion controls (note: THEY DID NOT INVENT MOTION CONTROLS) to the Wii. Now Microsoft and Sony are reacting and improving on it through Kinect and Move.

Whatever Apple does, everyone else will do. Whatever Google does, everyone else will do. Whatever the high end Android manufacturers will do, everyone else will do. So it benefits everyone.

If only Steve could do it without the reality distortion field. To a certain extent that's marketing, and also the general state of humanity (people just don't think as critically). Heck look at the number of people who think Obama is Muslim or isn't born in the United States. I'm not saying Apple owners are like this, but the people spouting off Apple is better because they invented forward facing cameras on phones or the people portrayed in that HTC Evo owner, or iPhone 4 shopper parody (he made both) remind me of this.

We do not hate apple, or any devices. the n900 just really got our attention and interest so we go for it.

i myself use ubuntu 10.04 but the thing is that i dont clarify it as a full operating system that can stand alone without dual booting with windows or mac, there are tons of apps that i use in windows that are not in ubuntu like photoshop
