Help with Battery
Hello all,
Ok so ive recently bought a second hand nokia n900 (now regretting it a bit) after I broke my first one (dropped down toilet) and have just been setting it all up but it appears that the battery is just draining really quickly. From the looks of things the guy before me was quite a heavy user. From what I can see there have been a few tweaks and he obviously did a factory reset however the pidgin and facebook chat protocols were left on there. I was just wondering has he tweaked something and now the battery drain will always be this bad? or shall i just buy a new battery and it should be better? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Jake p.s it also runs a bit slower than mine used to, is there anyway to do like a diagnostic on it and any chance of improving this? |
Re: Help with Battery
You should install concy or htop to see if anything out of the ordinary is draining the cpu.
And a reflash, booth rootfs and emmc, would probably not hurt either. |
Re: Help with Battery
Install Conky (or just run the top commmand in the terminal) and see what kind of services and daemons are running in the background, consuming precious juice.
Anyway, a re-flash should get you rid of anything that might use the CPU in the background.. |
Re: Help with Battery
1. open xterm
2.sudo gainroot (assuming you have rootsh installed) 3.top and it'll display what is eating up your battery |
Re: Help with Battery
it looks like /usr/sbin/browserd is using 97% of the CPU, what is that? and yeah thanks guys. I think im gonna do a reflash.

Re: Help with Battery
I think that is the web browser working in the background not entirely sure, but it happened to me once and I think I just killed it

Re: Help with Battery
just killed the browser. started the browser back up and it got stuck again. would you recommend a reflash to fix this?
|
Re: Help with Battery
yeah go for it!!
or you could wait for more experienced users to have a look at your problem |
Re: Help with Battery
yeah i might do that. Hopefully someone will have some ideas in the next few days. Its a shame because I really love the n900. I may try a reflash and then get a new battery in the next few days. Thanks for the help so far guys.

Re: Help with Battery
anymore recommendations guys? once i shut the browser it carries on running in the background i think, browserd keeps running and occupies 95-97% of CPU a bit like someones xorg did a while back.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. |
