Hello anray,
can you please compile the latest PSfreedom for 3.01? Your previous build works fine (ps3 jalbreaks, I can install homebrew) but I think that the syscall used by backup managers wasn't yet included when you built it so they don't work...
Thanks!

~ # ./psfreedom-enable-maemo.sh
~ # cat /proc/psfreedom/supported_firmwares
3.41 3.15 3.10 3.01

My PS3 jailbreaks fine with your build.
The problem is that the backup managers are not working (only the backup managers, other homebrew is fine), which makes me think that the support for syscall 36 (used by backup managers) was included later then you built PSFreedom... I might be wrong of course...

I have original verson of psfreedom which i run via xterminal which works fine on games i currently have backed up on my external and internal hdd. What does this new version offer me that my current one does not? did i read that you no longer need an original game in discdrive to boot ? I dont want to lose what i already have working as they say if it aint broken dont fix it!!

Re: [Announce] PSFreedom - an easy way to jailbreak your PS3

i testet for 24 hours the new .ko file for omap1 and I noticed that that only way to start a game is to start this over /appz/gamez/. If i put a Blu-ray Gameinto the PS3, its don't change to the game i selected in the Open BM.

My reasoning is that the BD-Emulation is not patched to this new .ko file...

Do you have this problem, too?

@ anray

Is there a way to start games over the old Disk methode because the some games dont start over /appz/gamez/?

Re: [Announce] PSFreedom - an easy way to jailbreak your PS3

Use the oldest versions.
New versions based on hermes 2-3. See changes url in my previous posts.

Re: [Announce] PSFreedom - an easy way to jailbreak your PS3

how do you get this working on the n810? or.. does it even work on the n810... (the new psfreedom.ko with the hermes v3)

anray 2010-10-11 15:47

Re: [Announce] PSFreedom - an easy way to jailbreak your PS3

It can not work on n810. I'm using maemo5 sdk and kernel 2.6.26-omap1, but for n810 needs maemo4 sdk and kernel 2.6.21-omap1

I'm currently using the hermes 3 version, and it is working fine, I do not use the psfreedom app, I use terminal with the .sh files.

Re: [Announce] PSFreedom - an easy way to jailbreak your PS3

@anray, will you implement this patch please along with hermes v3?

Some game updates use lv2open to check the disc’s param.sfo to make sure the right disc is in the drive and the check fails because psjailbreak patches only patch the vsh open, as such a lot of patches will ask to “insert” the disc if you are playing from a backup, I don’t care much about backups myself but for the sake of it and because some people may actually do a legit use of them, here is the patch : in 3.41 lv2 at offset 0x5745C change to li %r31, 0

Do you have the enhanced linux kernel? If yes can you send me the .ko files with the hermes v3 patch. Thanks

Re: [Announce] PSFreedom - an easy way to jailbreak your PS3

I was looking for a way to get rid of the "No Controller thing in F1 and here is what i did:

1. I heard that Hermes v3 was compatible with the patched mode in open manager and so downloaded the Hermesv3 fix from here
http://www.ps3-hacks.com/file/85

2. Then i un-installed the enhanced linux kernel using the De-install app in the appllications. I had to do so because i heard that the new hermes v3 was only compiled for the regular nokia kernel

3. Then, i replaced the psfreedom.ko under /opt/psfreedom/omap1 using win scp and renaming the hermesv3 as psfreedom.ko

4. Then i jailbroke my ps3, but tried to press R2 to enable patched mode but nothing happens.

Please help me get the patched mode on my ps3.

Thanks

Re: [Announce] PSFreedom - an easy way to jailbreak your PS3

oh yeah, you don't need to deinstall enhanced kernel if you have multiboot ;)

just do the same thing you did (replacing the file...) but with that one : http://psx-scene.com/forums/attachme...-psfreedom-zip

Thank you so much. I have used the ko file you had linked and now i can get to the patched mode in the open manager. however when i load the game it goes back to the original game in my ps3. i read earlier in this forum that we need to start the game from app_home/PS3GAME....how do you do this?

Thanks

Re: [Announce] PSFreedom - an easy way to jailbreak your PS3

you dont need to insert cd with hermes v3, start the game in app_home/PS3GAMES, and with patched on , i dont think you will notice anything except on the screen say on and off.

I followed your instructions and it says EBOOT.BIN not found. Any suggestions?

Thanks

noob question here, how do i go about dual booting with kernel power and stock kernel? :D TIA

killerjay 2010-10-15 03:45

Re: [Announce] PSFreedom - an easy way to jailbreak your PS3

u cant dual boot kernels, u have one or the other, not both...... u gotta deinstall the power kernel from the programs menu

was it your ripped game ? or downloaded it online ? if it was online then maybe it was bad game, or an old backup game, if you dont mind ,format the HDD, start over again. jailbreak, install latest OMB then try again. it should work. when you start over to install OMB again, the first screen will comes up asking what is ur first folder to start your games, press yes and yes..

TIP: this release doesn't support start and play over BD-Rom. Don't forget that somegames only can start with BRīlu-ray in ps3...

Re: [Announce] PSFreedom - an easy way to jailbreak your PS3

thanks killerjay.

i'd still wait for a bit if ever a power kernel version comes out. if none, deinstall power kernel :D

Re: [Announce] PSFreedom - an easy way to jailbreak your PS3

there are still some possibilities that you'll end up flashing n900 when using "deinstall kernel", so I am waiting too for the power kernel version of this....

sorry my english sucks

Update: Just noticed all the info here: http://psfreedom.com/wiki/Nokia_N900 .. RTFM to myself, lol.

I will see if I can get the SDK installed over the next couple days... will require a bit more commitment than I planned, figures I would think about this right when I have an exam coming up.

One question if anyone knows... where can I find an ubuntu desktop image that has it all installed already. I see an ubuntu server one here, but that does not include the whole environment according to this. Getting this running in virtualbox would likely save some time.

Hey guys. Thanks for all your help. Finally the game worked.

Here is what i did and you should try this if you have the "no controller found" games.
Delete all versions of backup managers first
Install only open manager. Mine was 1.16
The open manager automatically installs the game to OPEN folder instead of the LAUNCH folder which is used by the other backup managers.
Delete any game user date for that specific game if you had tried to install the game earlier.
Now follow the steps by patching the open manager and launching the game and launching the game from the /ps3_Game folder instead of the regular bluray disk.

Hope this helps.
Loving the F1 Game.

The SDK desktop? I have an ftp you could upload it to if you would like. Let me know if that works for you.
