i reckon that nokia should have frequent updates fixing fewer number of bugs at one time, instead of having a big-ish update fixing higher number of bugs at one time. :)

And I wish that we - as a modding and developing community - could make and distribute bugfixes by ourselves...
Could've been nice, not needing to wait for nokia to patch things up once in 6 months, but I guess this belongs to a more ideal world than the world we're living in ;)

They always had "the next version" cooking somewhere. The only difference may be that the closer we get to "5 of 5", the more consumer actually have the devices in their hands... which makes updating the whole OS a more critical task.

It is currently being done. See MohammadAG's efforts and the Modest fixes we have.

Well.. it seems like we are waiting for the PR1.3 update, and I reckon it will come (my opinion).. But then, hey.. Why get frustrated? Lets just wait till it comes (if it does), and if not then we can think of another solution at that time. There has been no official word on PR1.3 and there hasn't been any word about PR1.3 not coming.

There are more important things going on this world than this PR1.3 update :)

i dont even care much for PR updates, just want Qt for some N8 apps that dont require multitouch. this phone is awesome. just want figa's gba emulator!

And it requires Qt 4.7? Given the N8 ships with Qt 4.6 - as does the N900 with PR1.2 - it sounds like you, or "figa"(?), is confused.

Not without recompiling, no. If you have the source code, then they should be compilable for the N900 (though there may be source code changes needed, depending on how screen-res, etc. has been handled).

hey guys...m back...was busy counting up to infinity...and that too twice.. :D now that i am done with the counting lets have some fun..


I have asked nokia to deliver the update b4 october 31st..
i told them-" where there is a will, there is a way..and where there is me therz no other way..so better deliver it soon "

the nokia guys will have to deliver. or else...ahem.. :p

What fixes? Are these available in a repository? Most people won't use these fixes unless they are available in firmware.

The amount of unofficial tweaks I have to make to a vanilla OS to get a respectable battery uptime is embarrassing, and many times unofficial packages are not easily installable as .deb or break things.

This community could really use something like a PPA like Launchpad uses. Not that it'd solve everything I mentioned though.

I just found a maemo5 update in the app.man. It's the same version nr and it says it's damaged but can be installed. 77kb

Hi Chucky :p

I'm currently beta-testing PR1.3 on my N900, and it feels great !!! I can even switch smoothly to portrait mode while climbing on the pole...

That's probably visible just because of some incompatibility with something else that you've installed, rather than being any evidence of a new update.
