The best way to exit is just press top left corner(don't worry you don't see button there) so you go to dashboard and then close with pressing "x".
Unfortunately, 'x' doesnt kill the TwimGo process. Please see the attached screenshots which show that TwimGo gui is not present after pressing the 'x' button, however TwimGo process is still alive.

The only way to kill the process is to end it manually.

I have posted a query on the developers website regrading this but have not receivede a reponse so far, as it seems odd that this is about the only N900 apps which is still alive, and therefore comsuming battery power, after closing the app.

Using "kill all" is OK when you have time to do it but hardly ideal if you just want to check the latest "tweets" on your phone.

Maybe I'm just being stupid, but I did look in the settings menu, is there any way to have the avatars or twitter user's pictures shown next to tweets with the latest release on Maemo?

You need to install QT Hotfixes from Extras:

http://maemo.org/downloads/product/Maemo5/mcsp/

I'm not sure what else this packages "fixes" but it does fix the problem with Icons not showing in TwimGo.

it also fix the "already exit, but still alive" problem, i think.
i already try it: run TwimGo from xterm, then, 1) exit by pressing 'x' button, 2) exit by press Exit menu.
and the result, so far, is normally back to the prompt, and not waiting the ctrl-c to going back to the prompt

On my device pressing 'X' on TwimGo window in dashboard kills the process - just tested it several times. Contact Tomi on Tweeter - he will try to debug, that's for sure.

Now I'm having further issues with TwimGo from the maemo.org repos.

I got the avatars working thanks to travla, but TwimGo appears to only load one page of tweets. When I scroll to the bottom and it says "Load more" I press it, but it doesn't do anything, even after multiple tries.

I have this problem sometimes, have you closed the app and re-started it as 9 time out of 10 it works as it should.

Well I just closed it and tried it again, and it appeared to be working, for a few presses of "Load more". But then strangely it sort of wrapped the tweets around in a circle, so that even when scrolling down it was actually going to the more recent messages, which I'd just passed as well and then it crashed (this is with 2.7.3 and the Qt hotfixes installed; I am running PR1.3).

I'm quite puzzled by it, as it's really unusable for me in its present state, but otherwise a very good looking application.

Seems an odd problem have you tried a clean re-install of the app?

I know. No I haven't, but the device is brand new so I didn't think there'd be any software cruft. I will try it and report back, thanks for your help.

Edit: I uninstalled and reinstalled it, unfortunately the exact same tweet strangeness. "Load More" takes a bit too long to work, and then only works a couple of times before stalling for what seems like forever. I have that problem where the tweets stop going down chronologically from most recent, and half way through it goes to an earlier timed tweet.

TwimGo version 2.8.0 boasts the following;
  • Dialogs no longer leak clicks through (and accidentally open e.g. tweet underneath)
  • Two new feeds:
    * My Tweets
    * Friends
  • Shows “in response to” original tweet in Tweet details view
  • Clicking “Load more…” link doesn’t jump to the top

I'm still experiencing the bug? that sometimes TwimGo does not start due the lack of libqt4-declarative. That happens usually when I update the CSSU. As a work around, someone recommend me to run

apt-get install libqt4-declarative
and it fixes it, so, I just run that code every time it happens, it does not bother me.

For the rest, just a great app, I'm running now 2.8.0 with no problems at all. Every release it seems faster to me, with new features.

I love to be able to hide the icons bar.

Maybe my bad English: I meant that I love the feature recently included to hide the icons bar. I did not mean that I'd love it as a new feature :)

i see people don't have issues with the desktop widget, im loving this app just for its prefect widget, but after updating to the 2.8 version the widget disappeared from the desktop and now i can't find it in the widget list when i want to add it ! any hints?

I came to ask this question but see that I already asked it! I guess the answer is no. It's kind of ridiculous to have to go into Twitter proper just to create a saved search that you can use in Twimgo.

i installed twimgo 2.8 and the desktop widget is useless, i don't know what it was like beforehand as i've just started using twimgo, the app is brilliant. do i still need qtweb runtime for v2.8?

I have some issues between TwimGo and Opera.
Every now and then I have a sudden reboot when I try to open a link in TwimGo.
I have Opera as default browser.

Looking at the project pages here maybe they're fixing it.

I had the same problem I resolved my issues by entering the correct password for Twitter at Twimgo login.

The password field is case sensitive.

Perhaps you can try this too?
