A possible consequence of different OSs for N900

Does anyone else think that with all the OSs that are becoming available for the N900 there will be a division of resources?

For example since the launch of the N900 developers have been developing apps for Maemo 5, but in the near future there will be a range of stable OSs to choose from (Nitdroid, Meego, Ubuntu etc), which will mean that developers will be split amongst the different range of OSs

what's your opinion??

It may also attract new, non maemo, developers.

Well if everyone is gonna code in QT then they can just compile for different systems.(so don't need to code ui multiple times) I might be wrong.

Can you think of any compelling reason why "N900 developers" will write N900 specific apps for Nitdroid, Meego, Ubuntu? No, neither can I.

It's more likely the developers would move onto Meego (given Nokia's attempts with the N900 mailing around program).

Eh not necessary. For example does code in QT compile to Android (NITDroid)? Even in Ubuntu there aren't QT libraries included by default (at least if I ever install a QT program I have to also install all the QT libraries associated with it).

maemo will be forgotten after releasing maago i think cuz all the developers will go for meego ... even us we will use meego for our N900 devices .

Why must I always go to Mc Donalds when I can choose Burger King or if i want somthing different KFC?

One offers larger burgers, the other is more 'wide spread'... :)

LOL... We are being spoilt for choices!

EDIT: On a more streight to the point note, Maemo will be eventually replaced with Meego, no doubt about that.

In the future It will be Meego and most problably Android(Nitdroid) for 95% of us N900 users.

My opinion is to improve Java support in Nokia phones. Then just run the same Java (SE and/or ME) application in any platform,or convert to Dalvik-bytecode for Android/NITroid. Also, I would not be suprised to see Dalvik-emulator in Meego some day, so Dalvik-programs could be run as well Java SE and ME bytecode.

I wasn't just referring to the development of apps, like people come on here with problems with maemo 5, everyone is using the same OS so it is easy to offer help.

However it will be more difficult if people are using different OSs, just my opinion

Wikipedia says that there is an experimental support.

About libs, you install it once and forget about it. So, I see no problem.
