judging from the results so far, i imagine most ppl that use that site or operate on that site are just fanboys for certain devices.......not saying that the devices that are still left in the competition so far are crap or ****, but seriously how can the Nexus One, HTC EVO 4G and iPhone 4 be defeated already?? I mean wtf, the Xperia X10 is old and a piece of crap, the EVO 4G can own it hands down and yet it's voted out, i say this whole competition is a bit biased........

True but HTC EVO 4G is a great device no question about that. But the real problem is EVO 4G will not last you a single day of usage with the amount of usage you did with your Galaxy S, N900, Nexus one and iphone4.

Evo 4G beat the crap out of iphone 4 and it lost to the Galaxy S because of the usability and hardware combination.

Palm Pre on the other hand is a great OS device and it was a tough competition to the N900.

Although this is a poll for championship of all devices, if there are not many people who interested to vote for the device they have owned or people who doesn't give a cent of the device because it is either not satisfied their needs or expectation.

Bias alright, vaguely result alright but at the end it comes down to which device got the best support community behind it to thrive the future of the device instead of depending it on the maker.

Yeah... no doubt. This community is solid. Lately though, I've been overwhelmed with the Android community - they helped me out from an AT&T OTA issue that nearly bricked my phone.

I know. But I was happy to be a douche man! It's a step up (I think) from troll ;)

I commend everyone's enthusiasm here, but I just can't help but file this under "s***s that don't matter".

- We can't beat the Galaxy S on the basis of technical merit, marketshare/popularity nor vendor's support/performance, so we'll lie/steal/cheat on this obscure poll we found on a page somewhere.

It just reeks of desperation :D

Whatever the outcome is, it won't matter...

I know you are discouraging us on claiming immaterial glory over artificial ballot.

However, you just can't ignore the implication - that the ballot itself is to determine who has the bigger (and probably better built) community, rather than who has better hardware and better market share. That's what matters for an opensource platform.

Sure the kind of excitement of winning the ballot would just be as much as hitting a flying fly with your piss, or throwing a can into a rubbish bin 30 meters away, and surely we won't use that as our banner "I HIT A FLY WITH MY PISS TODAY" don't worry. XD

But the Galaxy is better at technical merit, market share and vendor support / performance. As are many of the phones on the poll.

So a load of people voting for the poorest performer out of the two is not helping. I would have thought the better use of the poll would be to let N900 come last. EVERYONE on here voting for another phone to send a clearer message, afterall Nokia don't listen to us and to be associated with the crappest phone is more problematic to Nokia that coming as an 'also ran' in a poll. (then again a lot of their phones are teh crappest phones ever on various polls, depending on what the poll is, so what is the point of polls?)
Better to be stand out from the crowd for something, the message is therefore clearer and of course bad publicity works far more than good publicity if you have a message to carry across.

I voted for samsung but I spent all weekend using my HTC tytn2 as a phone because of the crap N900 not holding charge, resetting every time I pulled out the battery and losing the sim card. So I voted based on my experience of the N900.

Well 8 phones came last and only one comes first, so obviously you stand out more if you come first. My opinion is that coming first is a sign that the N900 is still worth investing in, as opposed to coming last where you can safely forget about the N900 since nobody likes it.

I would never trade my N900 for any of the other phones in the competition so therefore I would not vote for any of them. Opinions and usage vary, so you're entitled to vote for whichever phone you think is the best, and based on your bad experience with the N900 your choice is perfectly understandable.

Should it not do that? Do other phones keep going after you pull out the battery?

I'm hoping that if Nokia get wind of this poll, they might remember that they are easily capable of making ground-breaking milestone devices like the N900 which are well regarded by their users, and that Meamo is a fantastic OS.

They just need to grow a pair when facing the media, learn to blow their own trumpet (with positive effect) more often, and show their progeny a bit more love and understanding instead of locking them away in the cellar like some guilty family secret.

there isn't any device so easy to use and serve me as well as the N900 at the moment. If N900 has multi touch then i would never lay my eyes on anything else. Seriously this damn N900 made me betrayed my computers. I no long required to turn on my PCs just to browse and surf the net anymore. This is the greatest!

Name a device that have better web browse than the N900. Name a device that is more open and hackable out of the box like the N900. Name a device that has as many bugs as the N900 lol. Nothing like this beast!

Why would you keep pulling out the batteries and the sim card? My simcard has been in my N900 since I received it on November 26th of last year. I did take out the battery once, sometime in April of this year.

Please elaborate.

I´m pissed off at Nokia for a lot of things about the device, but I still like it in many other ways.

haven't we learned enough from Apple yet? it doesn't matter if the phone has the best support, better technical specs, more market share etc. people will buy it for their own reasons (branding? lifestyle? show off? to be elitist? loyalty? etc). the poll simply exemplifies these points. :)
