Can't Play flv Files
Hi!
When I try to play some of my flv files, everything will go as expected, but sometimes this doesn't happen. Sometimes, Media Player, says that it's unable to play the file, because format is not supported... I've installed: Extra Decoders Support MPlayer KMPlayer Your help would be appreciated. |
Re: Can't Play flv Files
Guys, I know double-posting is not good... I'm familiar with forums and I'd have never done this if it wasn't necessary, but this is an urgent case...
Could you please help me?? |
Re: Can't Play flv Files
What mediaplayer you are using?
If kmplayer then what player inside of it you are using? Can be checked inside settings of kmplayer. Does this happen with same flv files and do these files start playing suddenly? What do you do to make them play? |
Re: Can't Play flv Files
Hey mate... I was using the osso thing... Thought KMPlayer would use MPlayer by default...
When using MPlayer as the player, I've got no issues, hopefully, and thanks to you. :) But when I use the normal player, I can play some flv files, and I can't play some flv files... That's really weird... And another weird thing about the N900's default Media Player, is that 3 things might happen when I try to play an flv file: 1) No problems occur, and I manage to see the file. 2) I don't see the video at all, and I see the error about the player being unable to play that format. 3) I manage to play the file, but it'd be too slow. Your help would be really appreciated, although the problem was kinda solved, thanks to you. EDIT: I decided to use Sib as the front-end to MPlayer... But can someone tell me if it's possible to play these files in Media Player? Thanks again, in advance!:) |

In the next version, there will be a 'gstreamer or mplayer' option that first tries gstreamer and if that fails, tries mplayer. Quote:
Type the following: run-standalone.sh /opt/kmplayer/bin/kmplayer B.t.w. I experience some severe synchronization problems with mplayer too with certain flv files. Wish the mplayer maintainer would upgrade this package. |
Re: Can't Play flv Files
Thanks mate!
One other thing... whenever I play an flv, I have to gp back and start from the beginning in order to see it. If I don't do that, after a second it'll pause... And another problem, just with one video so far, is that it is not clear, well, something worse... It's just like a screen full of moving vivid scratches. Your help is really appreciated guys. |
Re: Can't Play flv Files
Question kinda related:
Mediabox with Youtube plugin works flawlessly but you can't play FLVs there. Why is that? It would be so cool to play FLVs in Mediabox. So far the only way to play FLVs for me is KMPlayer + MPlayer but it's slow, very slow. It seems like it doesn't use the PowerVR chip. |
Re: Can't Play flv Files
And when I use KMPlayer, I suddenly realize the video, is behind the audio... Audio comes first, then video. This happens after a few seconds...
Can someone help please? |

But there might be another reason your FLVs don't play on Maemo. Like AVI, FLV is just a container. It's like a box with certain dimensions that fit a hole. But still you don't know if you can make any sense of what's inside the box. The other thing is YouTube HD content. That can't be played on Maemo either. |
Re: Can't Play flv Files
flv is not universal standard. It's bit like some bottle filled with some limonade. You could say that its weird that one bottle tastes like cola and another like orange and wonder why is that. Well it's because bottle is like flv/avi they are just containers. They do no exactly tell you too much what inside of them.
So when wondering when some avi or flv plays and another doesn't play remember that there is thousands different combinations between different audio and video codecs. Of course if all websites used just couple of different codecs life would be much easier to end users. |
