Ultimate video resolution

Hello!
I want to convert some videos and upload them on my Nokia n900, when i try to convert it sometimes it doesn't work, sometimes sound goes slower than image, something is very low quality etc. Could somebody tell me ultimate settings i should set? I mean codecw, resolution, frames per sec and all,all i need to convert it right(including sound settings)? I need ultimate settings for movies and for music videos.I don't know much about it :/ By the way what is the best converter to use right now? Thanks in advance!

What are you using? PC or Mac? Windows or Linux? etc

If a Windows PC, try SUPER video converter from erightsoft.com - it's free and does everything.
I have used it for loads of movies and video clips and it works a treat - can even batch convert!

You could also use Miro Video Converter . It's free.

Unfortunately my laptop I use to convert with super video has gone for repairs so can't give you a solid answer.

I think I use something like 800x480 resolution, mpg, h.264, mp3. I could be talking rubbish though but that's as far as my memory can offer.

Re: Ultimate video resolution

I seem to remember using MP4 wrapper, H.264 codec, 25fps, 800x480 with AAC audio at 16Kbps stereo.
I'm sure I got it down to about 16fps with not much visible difference, but the filesize wasn't much smaller either so I went back to 25fps.
Let us know how you get on!

So far you've received some very constructive recommendations above. However I'd like to go back to the very basic question, that why do you need to convert at all?

With few exceptions, you can play almost any format on N900, provided that you installed extra decoder support and SiB+mplayer. If the format doesn't support in default mediaplayer, it'd support in mplayer.

When playing with SiB+mplayer (remember to set to to use mplayer instead of default under SiB), you can press f to enable frame skipping (press one more f to increase the frame skipping, and f the third time return to normal), such that the sound and video sync'd.

I needed to convert like hell for playing movies on Android, but I've never ever needed to convert any movies since I use N900. N900 should save you lots of time in conversion, thus I asked. Hope this help.

Oh actually it may not be the case of OP, he's just talking about optimum resolution and such. ^^

BTW, what you use to strip the DRM?
