Clocked it to 1000mhz starving, this is my second day, no issues so far. No problems with media player or camera. Tried to run a ton of programs at the same time to really make it work, and no issues what so ever!

[The N900 is a baby with super-powers. It hasn't learned to use all of them yet, but it is learning fast..]

I love this! so true!!

Re: [ANNOUNCED] Extremely easy Overclock Script -updated

I'm running a day and a half on ulv 850 without any problems with this script.
the mediaplayer even plays real media movies without any hick ups.

thanks

running on 750Mhz today on lv with no issues. Later today I might hit 800

I'm on 805Mhz at the moment. No problems. Wondering if to go higher now lol

i th(nk you live in a tropic area?? mmmm i would suggest you keep an eye for the phone's temperature
i wrote a post on what is the optimum temperature for the N900 somewhere in this form look it up and based on that decide how high to go ;)

yea it's usually warm outdoors but my OC isn't permanent and I keep an eye on it. I didn't like running it at 850 so now it's back to 750 on ideal. much cooler and feels just as good. I like that once i restart or somn it goes back to normal.

Re: [ANNOUNCED] Extremely easy Overclock Script -updated

you dont need to reboot to go back to default
just use my script and choose the A option and you will be back to stock ;)

RenaldoTT 2010-10-08 12:08

Re: [ANNOUNCED] Extremely easy Overclock Script -updated

well I knew that lol already have it @stock but using "ideal" voltage

bakuur 2010-10-08 12:18

Re: [ANNOUNCED] Extremely easy Overclock Script -updated

well thats great! im soooo into knowing if your processor would reach 1150Mhz
i was just reading that some processors would struggle reaching 850 and if your mobile passed that then you are in the safe zone

RenaldoTT 2010-10-08 12:28

Re: [ANNOUNCED] Extremely easy Overclock Script -updated

well I got to 850 on ideal and the heat didn't match the speed. i.e. I didn't like it getting that hot cuz it did pretty fast so I went back down. You never know I might need the speed sometime and put it to 900

Runs at 900 but still gor heat that I don't like. It's already like 28°C here

bakuur 2010-10-08 12:37

Re: [ANNOUNCED] Extremely easy Overclock Script -updated

as a default id advice ideal/850 or 900
then when you need the extra power ideal/1100 is nice
and for power saving starving/600 or 700 is perfect

but thats for my mobile
i dont know about anyone else :P

abd heat ONLY rise when connected to 3g or charging
but thats understandable
and when using high processing apps or games i wouldnt suggest leaving it at 1150 at all!*1150Mhz is the red zone to me*

RenaldoTT 2010-10-08 12:47

Re: [ANNOUNCED] Extremely easy Overclock Script -updated

yea it does heat up during net activity. what is the voltage for stock?

bakuur 2010-10-08 13:19

Re: [ANNOUNCED] Extremely easy Overclock Script -updated

you can find the chart somewhere if you look it up
and 25C to 35C is fine
well in my opinion you shouldn't let your phone go above 50 C to 55 C, just to be on the safe side.

lol U got my question wrong, I was asking what voltage you use for the default 250 600 clocking. lv,ulv, xlv or ideal?

bakuur 2010-10-08 13:33

Re: [ANNOUNCED] Extremely easy Overclock Script -updated

aww you mean profile, im really not sure
i think its the stock nokia voltage

Re: [ANNOUNCED] Extremely easy Overclock Script -updated

K cool but your script works fine. Next time you do something amazing, put me on the list for those to be notified. Going to work now, Thanks again and well to AIMehdi as well and anyone else who gave us this sweet deal. Bless Up!

Re: [ANNOUNCED] Extremely easy Overclock Script -updated

Thanks for the script, it works fine. I tried @900 with xvl and seems stable, but gonna be testing it till next reboot. Hildon desktop have never been so responsive.

Maybe stupid question, but is there any way to check system/processor temperature on N900? I mean are there any sensors built in?

I updated my optimum temp post here
Here you will find ,if I may say, the most accurate way to read temperatures of the N900

Please try it and tell me how it goes ;)
Been working with me for months already ;)

Re: [ANNOUNCED] Extremely easy Overclock Script -updated

I tried to set ulv 850 to default but I got the message:
couldn't save profile1 no such file or directory.

did I do something wrong?
I used the comment: e 7 g

bakuur 2010-10-11 12:22

Re: [ANNOUNCED] Extremely easy Overclock Script -updated

yes i just tried that too and got the same error
but i fixed it easyly
just a miss placed code

if you want change this in the script:
Code:

g|G) kernel-config save profile1 | echo "kernel saved"
kernel-config default profile1 | echo "kernel set default"
echo " " ;;

with

Code:

g|G) kernel-config save profile1
kernel-config default profile1
echo " " ;;

or wait for me to update the script which will be done after some hours as i have some work to do at the moment

Re: [ANNOUNCED] Extremely easy Overclock Script -updated

hello bakuur, this is an excellent software, it was almost easy to install.

for all of those who find that the script doesnt install power kernel and just turns off the N900, you can manually install power kernel http://maemo.org/downloads/product/M...ower-settings/ (actually you can find it in the catalog in the app manager) just to be sure to use the version where there is a word settings in the end. install this app and reboot. after that just type in the code .

sudo gainroot
sh /home/user/Mydocs/oc-script

and it will work

would it not be possable to put this code into queen beecon an make a nice widget , this has a good base to start with !!

combine the 2 how great would that be.

my dear friend...
you are saying that the script causes you N900 to reboot?
if so then hmmm... do you have an idea to why is that happening??
please state which version you are using...hopefully i can address that error...

mmm if anyone has an idea on how to do that *as i dont think its possible* please inform me
or if possible help make a GUi for this script then that would be amazing

but if you want specific profiles you can make widgets to create them
like 1 for xlv 950 and other for ulv 1100
it is possible and i made a step by step on how to do that

hey bakuur do low voltages cause any harm to the CPU? Just curious

of course they must be tested
like its not just pick random numbers and you're done
and since many many have used *tested* titan's kernel and its different profile
and no complains so far
so i think its totally safe for now but cant give an answer for the long term effects

alright that's fair enough thanks.

Re: [ANNOUNCED] Extremely easy Overclock Script -updated

Hey bakuur I got my N900 to 1150Mhz yesterday but I didn't test it much just left it for a minute, but everything worked fine, but this speed isn't important to me the 600Mhz is actually good enough. What's important to me is battery life, so my question is, do you recommend leaving the device on 'starving' voltages for a long period of time while still using it to surf the net, watch videos, play games etc. Or should 'starving' only be used for like when I'm going to sleep and the phone isn't in much use?

bakuur 2010-10-15 13:17

Re: [ANNOUNCED] Extremely easy Overclock Script -updated

if your phone works fine with it
and you dont notice any considerable drop in performance
then yes you can make it your default
by the way there is a problem with the script as it doesnt save to default when asked to ie the G option

and you will find the solution in this Post

further more i would personally advice the Ideal 805 for you
or less if you want
the phone just works perfectly with it
and from my experience it noticable saves alot of battery

RenaldoTT 2010-10-15 13:26

Re: [ANNOUNCED] Extremely easy Overclock Script -updated

Oh well I don't need to set anything to default btw the a option seems to be using ideal voltages since when i select ideal it says "default loaded".

from the script for the A option:
Code:

a|A) kernel-config load default
echo " " ;;

as you see that means the default ie. A option loads the default kernel which is 250 600

EDIT: i really admire the way you take care of your N900 i honestly flashed it so many times that i dont even bother putting personal data on it anymore :P :P

RenaldoTT 2010-10-17 14:59

Re: [ANNOUNCED] Extremely easy Overclock Script -updated

lol well I spend my entire salary on it with my first job during "summer" and anything I work hard for I try my best to take care of. I honestly don't have much data on my N900 just like 10 songs a couple videos and a lil bit of games. I don't need the 27 gigs.

Btw did you update the script yet? if so which one is it? 1.2?

Also you didn't underrstand my question it seems. When I load A the frequency is 250 600 BUT what is the voltage used for this default seting? Is it ideal voltages or the voltage setting Nokia uses as stock?

Re: [ANNOUNCED] Extremely easy Overclock Script -updated

thing is i have exams since last week till next sunday
so i barely get a chance to check these posts
and hopefully as soon as im done ill fix that little glitch and upload it

and if you are using the older update

the oc-script then your fine
it doesnt have any problems
actully its so basic that its impossible for it to contain any problems

and as for your question am really not sure
ill have to check and match for you

ill give you an answer by next sunday as soon as i finish my last exam ;)

and thanks alot for your intrest in this script :)

Re: [ANNOUNCED] Extremely easy Overclock Script -updated

well, I don't know why did this happen, I've tried a couple of times, and it was always the same. I've used 1.2 version of your script and I have 1.2 update for maemo, version 10.2010.19-1.

I used your queenbeecon widget tutorial, and my default boot is standard nokia, and when I need extra juice, i use 850Mhz ideal.

ps.could you explain lv, xlv, ulv and if I want ideal in queen bee con, do I write ideal or smth else? thx

I appreciate the script however I'm unfamiliar with all the profiles and configuration details. Can you steer me in a better direction to configure the frequencies?

for ideal you type
Code:

sudo kernel-config load ideal ; sudo kernel-config limits (limits desired)
as for other profiles you just change the ideal with the profile you desire

and the explaining of each profile you will find in the post below

read this link *the part related to profiles* HERE

but honestly its all mumbo jumbo that it took me a long time to understand
so tell me what do you want from your n900?
extra power? save battery?? or what exactly ??
and ill advice you with the best profile and other alternatives

drums4life687 2010-10-20 22:20

Re: [ANNOUNCED] Extremely easy Overclock Script -updated

I'm mainly looking to have extra power when using mupen and an overall snappier operation of the phone. I'd also like to extend battery life when the phone is locked though. I assume a profile with limits of 125 and 850 would work well however I'm still confused with the differences of lv, ulv, xlv, and ideal.

What do you think would work best?
