Real estate values in Calif are getting reasonable now. It's nowhere near as smoggy in L.A. as its reputation, or as it used to be. I like it here in San Diego, where I was born, and often travel from the Ventura County area, which is also nice.

Elsewhere, there are many wonderful out-of-city areas, such as Borrego Springs in the desert or Lake Isabella in the mountains. Overall, California is a great state.

Move to the UK!

It seems there is a real need for good people at the moment. I've found lots of avenues to explore and had to turn down offers. We, as a country, must have a skills shortage in some area's, either that or I've been really lucky (either is equally likely).

Good luck Tim, I'm sure the right job will come shortly. (been meaning to ask you about it lately, glad it came up :)).

If anyone can feel your pain, Tim, I sure can. I will sure keep you in my thoughts as I come across anything in your area(s) of expertise. I can list a few companies that have been consistently hiring, but I don't know if they have a presence in your area:

NSN
Ryder
IBM
Sabre
Stryker (medical)

More to come as I think of them. Heck, even Nokia has listings as they downsize. Not uncommon.
