[Announce] desktop switcher widget
 

Hi,

I made a new desktop widget:
Desktop Switcher
(In extras-devel.)

You can put multiple widgets on your desktop and
configure each to switch to
- the desktop left
- the desktop right
- a specific desktop number

Maybe I add a configuration dialog for changing
the icon and the widget size.

Yes, custom transparency is a good idea.

Btw, the desktop switcher should support up to 9 desktop
(matans modified hildon). But I do not use this modification.
Can someone who uses this widgets and matans
modified hildon-desktop report back, if it works or not.

Thank you sooo much. You are a real star. I have been waiting for someone to do this for about 5 months now.

I am presuming this works with the modified hildon home that allows you to have 9 desktops. Is this correct? I have been using 6 desktops cause of the hassle of swiping through 6 desktops. If this works with modified hildon I will now be able to start using all 9 desktops (take that android).

Can someone upload a youtube video showing how it looks switching between desktops. Nokia is taking ten years to get a replacement n900 for my faulty one and really eager to see this in action and how the switching transition looks.

EDIT: just seen your post above saying it works with modified hildon. Great.

i can confirm that this does work with up to 9 desktops, i currently use 7 and it works flawlessly.

i love these little things that make my n900 so much more functional, working flawless. where are the arrow icons so i can make some to match my theme? thank you very much for this lil widget

Any chance we could use words rather than numbers for the widget to jump to a specific desktop? Will be easier that way to know which desktop you want to jump to. Even better would be the possibiity of custom icons or images. Maybe could have little pictures of each desktop as widgets.

Thanks for the awesome widget, can you please also create a widget to quickly search the local files that tracker indexes (songs, video, documents etc). Something like the search-tool but a desktop widget. Thanks again for all the useful widgets you've created for N900.
