Nope. n900 is limited by it's hardware... not software. Resistive vs. Capacitive touchscreen.

Resistive does NOT mean it can't support multitouch-esque gestures.

Shut it.

yes, some versions that appeared as soon as couple years after n900's touch screen had been locked to certain make/model

It will interpolate all your pressure points and only report a single point of contact to the system afaik. There's no point of this multitouch-looking shenanigans.

Resistive screens can support multitouch but not the one on the n900.

Do you think that the lucky people having the dual boot will say to the inferiors, like me, what to do in order to get the dual boot or they will keep secret their information?

Give up the persecution complex, please. Everyone will have the option for dual boot.

It's up to you to prep an SD card with a bootable MeeGo image. You might have to, you know, learn something.

meego should be in a partition on the internal disk so it can be faster.

yes. the model of n900's touch screen is locked. meaning there is only one model of touch screen in every n900 ever existed. so you most probably can not switch it to a version that supports multitouch without major redesigning of hardware.

Maybe later. However, that isn't compatible with Maemo5 at this point (not without changing the partitions of the eMMC for everyone.) The goal with these changes is to allow people who want to test MeeGo the ability to do so without having to reflash their kernel or mess around with loading it via USB every reboot.

Patroclo 2010-10-14 17:59

Re: Some wonderful news considering N900, MeeGo, PR 1.3 and other good stuff

Thank you, I really hope in Meego because with maemo there is not support for essential things, and I am referring not only to flash player, but also to pdf viewer. In fact I need to read a lot of math and with n900 I cannot because, a lot of formulas created by latex are not readable.

ah yes. reflashing would be a major hassle.

Wild speculation: Combining this info with the latest rumor that the N9 won't ship with Harmattan (but with a later MeeGo release based on MeeGo Core), this could mean that we could dual-boot Fremantle and Harmattan on the N900.

That makes a change from the glowing, gushing previews that most fanbois write and any issues are glossed over by saying "I'm sure Nokia will have this fixed on the production devices" - invariably these issues are not fixed by the time of release.

OYE stop your petty flamewars and listen to this guy. Anyone care to explain what he might be talking about?

I'm surprised of PR1.3, but I'm not particulalrly excited. My bet is that its going to be small maintenance and the ability to dual-boot. As I think that the N900 functions OK and don't want to dual-boot, I find that for most of us non-techy N900 mongers its not going to be a big deal.

150 active viewers , I'm sure it will go higher :D ...looks like we're moving toward a new EPIC (aka pr 1.2) thread eh? :)

A quick question , MeeGo's official browser is Fennec right? with all bells and whistles will it have flash 10.1 ? if so can it be ported to Maemo? ( I'm talking about next flagship device as well as hybrid model aka N9

unfortunately you have to repartition the emmc by yourself. putting meego to sd card is the only really reasonable option at least at the moment.
