Re: [Announce] BackupMenu V2 - OS backup & restore
There's no need to test kernel-power as it seems not that causing the problem.
I did today a fresh fiasco+emmc reflash, and after restoring my applications witch made by the built-in backup (it doesn't include kernel-power) i made another attempt, and the result was the same: bootmenu-n900 turns off whatever option i choose. I tried 0.56-1 via app manager, then 0.55-1 via manual install. At this point i created a zip file witch might helps the debug, but i'm not sure at all about this: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/4469013/temp/backupmenu.zip If there's any application witch might prevents backupmenu from working, please let me know and i check if i installed it, or not. |
Re: [Announce] BackupMenu V2 - OS backup & restore
Hm, out of curiosity, can you try installing openssh-server and trying again? If that fixes it, I'll at least know where to look.

server only? i has both server and client already installed.

Hm, gonna have to take a look tonight.
I'm not sure why it's working on yours and not mine. |

In the other hand if i follow back the topic, i see that more people having similar problems as me. If i will have time for this, i will install previous versions step by step and i try to check witch one works from. |
Re: [Announce] BackupMenu V2 - OS backup & restore
Well I created another ubinized rootfs image today, used nandsim + nandwrite + ubiattach to mount it and again gained about 18MiB of space, so bit the bullet and flashed it. And you know what? It actually worked - 65.7MiB free rather than the 47.5 ish that I had before! Really bizarre, but hey, I'm not complaining :D
By the way Robbie, is there a reason the brightness has reverted to 50 in recent releases? I edited the two .items to make it 7 which is plenty bright enough for me, and saves some precious battery.. also lowered the kbd backlight to 50 for good measure. Could this be made into an option at all? |
Re: [Announce] BackupMenu V2 - OS backup & restore
Necc: You can try 0.50-3; that's the last major "change" as far as code goes.
@Tigerite: Image wise, that's interesting. I'd love to figure out why. backlight wise, um... I thought it was always 50. I suppose I'll make it 10 or 15 - The idea is to make it bright enough to use in all situations without being too bright. I'll try the keyboard backlight at 50; it can't hurt. edit: I just tried with kernel-power v45 - It works like a charm. Admittedly, it does take an extra ten seconds or so to boot, but it works with bootmenu-n900 without issue. |
Re: [Announce] BackupMenu V2 - OS backup & restore
It was changed to 40 I think - I understand what you're saying about being bright enough for all situations, but it does cause extra drain on the battery. As for the image, it must be something to do with ubifs, maybe it's better at compression when starting afresh, so to speak?

Re: [Announce] BackupMenu V2 - OS backup & restore
Hm.. Necc, can you send me the list of applications you have installed?
Type "dpkg-query -l > /home/user/MyDocs/applist.txt" then pastebin the contents of "applist.txt"(It will be in MyDocs). Only thing I can think of is some odd conflict - I haven't seen anything that could go wrong... |
Re: [Announce] BackupMenu V2 - OS backup & restore
Ok, anyone having trouble, try this:
http://robbiethe1st.afraid.org/Backu...0101116.tar.gz use: tar xzf ./MyDocs/backupmenu-20101116.tar.gz -C / to extract(as root). |
