I've still some other things to try, including full reflashing of root and eMMC. Hope the problem is only functional not hardware-related. |
Re: [Announce] BackupMenu V2 - OS backup & restore
@debernardis:
I'd suggest connecting via ssh, go in and format the optfs partition. You could also try using DD to zero it first; try to make the eMMC controller mark any bad blocks as bad and work around them. Once you've got a fresh ext filesystem on there, you can run BM's restore mode to restore your image via tar. ---------- In other news, I may have found the reason some people cannot use BM and just get the bootmenu-n900 menu - I got an E-Mail from someone who had this problem and they found out that /usr/bin/find (which is used by bootmenu to find all .item files) was replaced with a symlink to the optified GNU version. As /opt/ isn't accessable at that time, all find calls would fail, backupmenu wouldn't be run, and only the default bootmenu prompt would be shown. |
Re: [Announce] BackupMenu V2 - OS backup & restore
I will check if that's my issue and report back.
Was there ever any work done on making it compatible with multiboot? I've been using it, since it provides a clean shell on boot, if required. EDIT: Yes. It works, after I removed the symlink and dropped the full gnu-find binary into /usr/bin/ - please send a thank you to the kind chap that advise this. I had a feeling it was an out-of-place binary, but didn't have time to track it down. |

Re: [Announce] BackupMenu V2 - OS backup & restore
Just so you guys know, I'm not going to be developing for a little bit - The right ~250px of my n900's screen is cracked and full of nice colorful lines, and I'm not going to be doing a bunch of work until I get a replacement installed. Also, I've got some non-maemo projects I'm working on...

Sorry to hear that, Robbie. I'm still working on getting the ubi image generation done, but my free time is short at the moment, I'm afraid :(

Well, if anyone can help me, I had made a backup on v1 before I sent my n900 in for warranty repair , and when I got it back the app was updated to v2. Being that I could not use the old backups with the new version, I have already installed everything that I wanted and had previously installed. I just cant figure out how to mount the images I've already got. I want to get some snes and n64 saves off of them. Can someone help me? I'm using a linux live disc: knoppix. |
