overclock pr1.3 ?
Today pr1.3 finally arrived. I installed it right away and noticed that kernel power doesnt work. Does anyone know if i have to wait for new version of kernel or can i just reinstall it ? I really like overclocked n900 thx.

Re: overclock pr1.3 ?
did you have any problems during upgrade to pr1.3?
i have the power kernel installed, and i'm afraid to upgrade. i've tried de-installing the power kernel from the terminal according to the instructions in the wiki (http://wiki.maemo.org/Kernel_Power#Deinstallation) but the first command seems to start downloading all the updated, so i aborted it. so my question is if you had the power kernel installed while updating to the new PR and if it caused any problems? can you type "uname -a" in the terminal and paste here the result (to see if the power kernel was removed) thanks. |
Re: overclock pr1.3 ?
I have kernel power and updated to pr 1.3 ota without any problems. I did disable extra devel and extra testings repos to free up some rootfs space.
After installation the kernel power did 'nt work so i did a reinstall as the kernel power wiki says. http://wiki.maemo.org/Kernel_Power#U...ng_to_a_new_PR Seems to work good with overclocking. Runnig at 900mhz now and no problems.:) |
Re: overclock pr1.3 ?
I un-installed Titan's power kernel yesterday via "apt-get --reinstall install kernel kernel-flasher".
When PR1.3 became available this morning, I found my updated Modest (thanks Mohammadag!) blocked the OTA upgrade. So I tried running "apt-get --reinstall install modest". That downloaded pretty much all of PR1.3 (91megs) and took 20 minutes to update dozens of modules on my phone. Upon rebooting, the device reported it was running PR1.3, but that several packages were 'held back' from upgrading. I'm now doing a fresh install from the .bin file downloaded from Nokia.com. |
Re: overclock pr1.3 ?
my new second device arrived today and i tried OTA update and noticed it was pr1.3
after installation of kernel-power and reboot, i tried to overclock with Code:
kernel-config load ideallimits 125 600 so i tried to set it myself with Code:
kernel-config limits 500 900i think the actual kernel-power version is not usable with PR1.3 we will have to wait for an update |
Re: overclock pr1.3 ?
i installed PR 1.3 and all the things i need, rebooted, installed 'enhanced linux kernel for power users (settings)'
clocked it to 850 (ULV) saved and default just rebooted now and it's still clocked. so it works fine here |
Re: overclock pr1.3 ?
I haven't had any problems overclocking after upgrading.
|
Re: overclock pr1.3 ?
it works for me also
But I do it manually after each boot with QCPUfreq. And swappolube works. |
Re: overclock pr1.3 ?
I have power-kernel installed as well should I uninstall it before upgrading or is it recommended that I leave it installed and upgrade anyway?
|
Re: overclock pr1.3 ?
well, since it works I would try OTA (I tried myself but i got some error so I did it with OVI suite)
|
Re: overclock pr1.3 ?
i did fw ota update with power .40 still installed
after successful reboot i did Code:
apt-get install --reinstall kernel-power kernel-power-flasherthen ran update in appman again to install that systeminfo lib all smooth sailing here... running 200-1000mhz @ ulv BUT! i'm really pissed they didn't give us flash 10.1... :( |

Re: overclock pr1.3 ?
I hope Titan comes and posts specifics about this. While kernel-power might work with PR 1.3 there are no guarantees that it has the same bugfixes that PR 1.3 has, so it could still cause problems later on.
However when PR 1.2 came out he mentioned that in fact kernel-power had been compiled from the PR 1.2 kernel source long before PR 1.2 even came out. It may be the same now with PR 1.3 but without confirmation its impossible to know either way. |

Re: overclock pr1.3 ?
Where I have mine running via qcpufreq, mine wont take the command to set the default overclock settings. Keeps resetings on reboot.
Any ideas? |
Re: overclock pr1.3 ?
Could you specify the command that didn't work?
|
Re: overclock pr1.3 ?
Upgraded to pr1.3 with titans kernel. No problems. After upgrade tweakflash, qcpufreg and overclocking doesnt work. So no one knows if the titans kernel is usable with pr1.3 ? Or should i try to reinstall it because some people here say it works? Today i also removed titans kernel because i wasnt sure if it works with pr1.3 i got a lot of battery loss. In 2 hours battery went from 100% to 50% and i didnt even use my phone... After i deleted titans kernel battery life came back to its normal i think...

Re: overclock pr1.3 ?
Tried to re-install titans kernel with pr1.3 and overclock didnt work. Removing again...
|
Re: overclock pr1.3 ?
i didn't had any probel with titans kernel.
but i flashed the fiasco and emmc via maemo flasher. after this overclocked like before to 900mhz and the lv profile and it runs stable like a rock |
Re: overclock pr1.3 ?
I had to reinstall titans kernel and after that all was well. All my profiles were still in place and my beecon widgets worked perfectly to switch between them for overclocking.
But yes, Tweakflash no longer works. |
Re: overclock pr1.3 ?
Just one question... Doesnt Meego rely on the standard kernel in PR1.3?
|
Re: overclock pr1.3 ?
Did anyone of you noticed that PR1.3 installs a new (factory-default) kernel? Did anyone of you noticed that this is the reason why overclock not works right after the update, but re-installing (also putting back to use the) "old" modified kernel "fixes" this?
|
Re: overclock pr1.3 ?
OCing seems to work for me just fine. I did an update via X Term OTA
|
Re: overclock pr1.3 ?
re-installed 3 times via faster application manager and it says: this kernel version 2.6.28-omapl is not supported. Please make sure that kernel-power is installed and so on... What can i do ?
|
Re: overclock pr1.3 ?
You didn't install.
Open terminal and issue the commands that are here on the forum, namely (as root) apt-get install --reinstall kernel-power kernel-power-flasher Make sure you type it correctly. Also, make sure you reboot. If it fails, paste the output of the above command here. |
Re: overclock pr1.3 ?
i installed and deinstalled the enhanced linux kernel twice so far with PR1.3
|
Re: overclock pr1.3 ?
Yah updated via xterm and reboot, now it works thank god.

Re: overclock pr1.3 ?
Before PR1.3, i was a power kernel and OC user and everything worked fine, getting my N900 @500|950 with no problems.
After flashing PR1.3, i installed power kernel and everything seems to be working well also. I decided to stick with 500/850 and well seemed ok. The thing is a few minutes ago, i checked my settings (kernel-config show) and it shows 125/850. How can this be? I use "load ideal" and it supposedly wouldnt allow 850 max with 125 min, right? Although on the description of "show" it still mentions the avoid freqs of 125 and 250, maybe some bugs were ironed and we now can stick with 125/850? I have power kernel 2.6.28. Also have an hourly Alarmed task to run kernel-config limits 500 850. Any tips? |
Re: overclock pr1.3 ?
Any word from Titan if he will be releasing a 1.3 version of the kernel for OCing. I am very happy with the speed improvements from 1.3 and would prefer to keep those + OC.
|
Re: overclock pr1.3 ?
As posted, he did. Soon.
|
Re: overclock pr1.3 ?
no problem here just finish installing pr 1.3 and reinstall the kernel and everything overclock to 250/850

What did you use to see where it "goes"?

Re: overclock pr1.3 ?
Hi,
I can't get OC to stick to 900 Mhz after phone calls. It keeps going back to 600 Mhz. I updated with Flasher/Fiasco and just reloaded my Backup and "re-downloaded" apps. Any idea? Thank you. |
