hi, when i do update it updates, when i do upgrade it says libsdl-mixer1.2 has been held back and it needs to be upgraded and deosnt give an option, sorry about this and thanks for helping

hey, thanks for your help as now it shows the new firmware, when i do update in terminal this shows up att the end?

if your on about the file sources.list in the apt folder, i dont know lol sorry i couldnt get it to open, and if your on about the folder sources.list.d theres a file in there, hildon-application-manager.list, i dont know how to view them?

You see two identical lines:
deb http://repository.maemo.org/extras/ fremantle-1.3 free non-free

Delete one of the lines.

Use either vi (if you are comfortable with command line) or leafpad (if you prefer Graphical User Interface) for this.

You will have to edit this file as root, I think.

Make a backup of the file in case of misprint while editing.

This file is rebuilt by the App Manager from /etc/hildon-application-manager/catalogues, so it doesn't really matter if you mess it up, it does also mean the next time you make any changes to the catalogues in the App Manager it will rewrite /etc/apt/sources.list.d/hildon-application-manager.list and you'll lose any changes you make. If this file is messed up, rather than editing it yourself it is probably better to check what it says in Application Catalogues in the App Man, if something is wrong fix it, if it looks okay then make a minor change, maybe disable one of the catalogues and then it will rewrite than file.

ok not sure what the above means, but now its doing the same thing, i think it has been rewritten as duplicate, but a problem i have now is whenever try to install from appman it says theres not enough memory but there is cus i can install through xterminal so that is ok but how do i get it to install from ovi, without using the appman?

Installing from ovi without appman:
apt-get install aptitude (to install command-line analogue of appman)
aptitude install panorama (example of usage)

Also, to resolve the duplicate problem, try
apt-get update

Of course no.

The purpose of Over-The-Air is to allow you to update (the whole operating system) while continuing whatever you do.

The purpose of re-flash is to clean everything which might be wrong, and the device cannot be used at all while re-flashing.

i just added extras testing before i checked that file, it was showing the error even before that, and i just did update again and it deosnt show the error, lol, i think its playing games with me, thanks anyway

the aptitude mweethod worked and my phone isnt letting me delete these grammar mistakes thats why im haveing to write this lol, biut i dont understand why it nstalls through xterm but not through appman

I don't know why Application Manager doesn't work, exactly.
apt-get is crippled in order not to install anything from Ovi; probably it's a way to make people log into Ovi instead of directly downloading.

When you use virtual keyboard, use (stylus) tapping to move cursor to another place, since it has no arrows. Turn on auto-complete and tap the word when you see it guessed auto-complete correctly. You can also half-open hardware keyboard to use arrows (-> arrow auto-completes, too, if I remember correctly).
