what's the news?

so i've been searching around the net "meego 27th oct" but there aren't lots of information about it..

sorry if this has been discussed,i might missed it..

just curious to know..:)

MeeGo 1.1 will be released.

This largely means nothing for most people, as it will not include power management (poor battery life) nor will it have a GUI for configuring 3G data connections.

It will, however, be API complete and customizable by anyone who wants to fill in the gaps for their device. At least that's the goal.

Are they still having problems with the battery management?

That's an absolute shame! I thought Nokia were helping MeegGo with the implementation?

The problem was wall charger charging where we found some upstream kernel bugs very late in the process - they're fixed now (verified this myself), but due to the release process, it won't make into 1.1 release, but will be part of one of the 1.1 updates. USB charging works fine.

Breaking a code freeze on kernel this late in release process is a bad idea and it was determined not to be a blocker.

Safe battery management is no. 1 priority - we don't want to be breaking your devices, you know :)

Will thank you a lot if you can list out if there is any usefull comming with Meego 1.1 or later version, we dont want to be testers for you unless you can spare a device for testing.:)

*edit* So 28.10.2010 is the new Release Date. I found an Interesting info about the Release they plan a bunch of Videos to show us 1.1. This could proof some features we could await like voice call and sms...

how long it will take for MeeGo 1.1 to be completely stable?
And is there any possibility to get the up-date OTA when it is stable rather than: following complicated steps??
