Re: 5 things in PR 1.4 that would make N900 the best phone up to date.
1. Ovi maps turn by turn navigation
2. a Flash 10/HTML5 solution of some sort 3. Gapless playback in media player (this would normally be number 1 but I think Instinctiv will take care of that). |

I think arguing they're not meant to be kept on the N900 is pretty weak. After all, it's a portable photobook. Why would i take them with the N900 and then move them to something less portable? Quote:

Going back to main topic: N900 is the best phone "up to date", whatever that means--at least for me. Unfortunately, Nokia's decision to completely ignore any bugs that occur because of not having a data connection at every minute really undermines one of the major unique strengths of the N900: it's a smartphone that can actually do most things without network access. Recognizing the folly of their position and fixing some outstanding bugs like that, for example that make it impossible to geotag photos, even when there's a gps fix, if the network isn't available, would meet most of my needs. I wish Nokia would play to their strengths, instead of throwing them away in fits of iMeToo stupidity. |

+1 for scrollbar, maybe cover proximity sensor to make it pop out large enough from the side for finder use? There is one in the standard notes app (as you cannot drag the text, that just highlights) but it is very slim so not easy to grab first time.
I would also say this would be handy on the web browser too, the amount of times i've accidentally clicked on a link when all I wanted to do was move the page around can be quite annoying.. Oh and thanks for the Mappero reminder, I'd seen it crop up before, not sure why I'd never downloaded it before but it seems very good indeed (as it should, using the google maps API), leaps ahead of the standard maps, where searching for a postcode got me nowhere, even though some of the locations it does find include a postcode... |

Maemo will never ever get what we want . The eyes now focuses on MeeGo. So everything listed here ( what we want ) will be implemented in MeeGo.
Maemo is dying.... ( Sad :( ) |

My previous mobile was the N95, some times I wish I still had it, these are the things that I miss most.
1). Contact groups 2). Mobile Profiles - with these two I could allow certain people to call me at certain times of day, and of course there was my ignore group. 3). Photograph Zoom 4). Video editing 5). The 2d barcode reader. and two more. 6). Full Blue tooth compatibility with my car. 7). Voice recognition. If my N900 has all of these I am the happiest man in the world. |
Re: 5 things in PR 1.4 that would make N900 the best phone up to date.
1) fast flicking, especially in media browser and application layer (again, flicking through many many images is a pain)
2)Ditch Ovi Maps, get Google maps (wishful, but not unreasonable) 3) Even faster response overall (PR 1.3 did give a boost, but things like opening the camera still are painfully slow by comparison) |
Re: 5 things in PR 1.4 that would make N900 the best phone up to date.
There is only one area where I could hope improvements and that's the Maps application: voice navigation, and that it'd actually re-calculate a new route if you drive out of the route it at first calculated.
Everything else I am already perfectly happy with. |
