Synthesizer for N900!!!

Hello Forum! I just learned that this N900 beast has swallowed a DSP processor inside of it along side of general processor.

I would like to have musical tool with me, so I could continue on my song writing and sound creation at dull meetings and train trips. iPhones have a thousand synthesizers, and rather robust even, but not a single musical tool for Nokias!

Mobile synth does not need capacitive screen. This small screens are too small to play synth well anyway, so a versatile sequencer ui might be even better with resistive screen! Also the accuracy of resistive screens would allow many other things, like hand drawn wave forms and envelopes! N900's keyboard could be used as...well, another keyboard (along side of touch screen) or sample triggers or anything. Proximity sensor could be used as Rolands Twin Beam like controller.

Every synthesizer uses DSP processor, so I thought that N900 could have been ideal platform for mobile synthesis. N900 also seems to have really high quality soundchip, so its audio quality could be usable even when you get back to home studio.

Please! Someone make it happen! Synths seem to be quite effective system sellers. Perhaps a really good synth could lure more people to N900. I would buy N900 instantly, if there was a good synthesizer for it.

I second this and I bump it...my only disappointment with the N900 is the lack of a decent synth, something i would pay willingly for.

I encourage this effort also!

not a single musical tool?
ever looked at maesynth or theremin?

they are just basic, you will want to have more
Still, it's not "no musical tool"

Ok! Thanks for the advice!

But the princess is in another castle. I wouldn't necessarily go that far, that I would call those tools...at least not the system selling kind.

I would totally buy a Theremin(aka aetherphone ;) if it sounded good though. Theremin could also use that proximity sensor btw! Like controlling the picth on the touch screen and amplitude with proximitysensor!

But still a sequencer and synthesis engine would force me to buy this phone, and another for my wife, if it was good. And couple more for my brothers for synth jamming.

Perhaps n900 could even offer shelter for a whole synth family, that shares the same sequencer but has different synthengines, like a virtual analog or two, fm and samplebased...and Theremin....and Mellotron! I would buy them all! With money!!! If n900 doesn't have enough strength(who does) to carry different modules simultaneusly, perhaps the sequencer could have audio tracks! You could for example make a sequence on a rompler that consist of drums, bass and organ, put effects on them and turn it into an audio track, thus releasing some of the processing power and effects back into use and change into virtual analog synth and play some pads and leads on top of the cake and so on and so on and then mix the different tracks into radio hit and buy a limousine!

What about wireless syncing with other n900's for jamming. What about using the synth for a sound module with some midicontroller?

I'm getting pretty excited here! Some one tell me that its impossible!

I'm surprised no one mention

It had/has good potential, but the dev has seemed to slow down updates.

I would love a great sequencer and synthesis, that one could construct music with on the go.

check out this thread, which leads to this garage project.

it's a prealpha 4 channel multitrack recorder created by "mr id", i haven't tried it yet though. and it's far from production quality ATM.

Sunvox is answer to your question? And it is coming soon! I hope!

Apologies guys, but I have been V busy at work, so Maesynth has stalled for a bit. I am also migrating to C++ and Qt creator from python, as I have hit performance issues with the sequencer in maesynth (which you can play with in the Extras dev version).

Also there is now an alternative drum loop machine

Really?!?! Wow! Awesome find Ju-Maha!!! Thats just what I wanted!

I swear the god, I have been drooling for Sun Vox!!! I have visited their home page many times, sighing to have that kind of synth for a phone that interests me! Could it really be happening. I almost cannot believe my eyes. I cannot wait to hear how it sounds in n900! I already started looking for prices of n900.
