Re: Help a Blonde with Java?

Are you saying you want a java plugin for the web browser? Or are you just looking for a java runtime environment? Because saying "I want java" doesn't clarify which one you want. Java runtime environment is available and working perfectly well, actually, it's called Icedtea and should be in repos.

java plugin to run .jar games hopefully by just clicking on them or something (:
how do you use icedtea?

Re: Help a Blonde with Java?

java plug-in isnt available for web browser
U may install icedtea and try opening jar in it
Also try to install
easy debian and then run the desktop version of iceweasel(firefox) and then run jar games in it
I use opera simulator with it ;-)

Also there easydebian is quite cpu hungry so i suggest forget java game, play flash games,
as java games have screen size issues too

I think you are looking for MicroEmulator then. I have no experience with it and can't help there. And no, there is currently no browser java plugin, and no browser that would support one even if there did exist such.

If you're willing to use a full browser aimed for desktop use, with mouse and keyboard, then sure.

Re: Help a Blonde with Java?

I don't get the problem, I installed the latest MicroEmulator. I start it, select the .jar file and some are working fine. Though a lot of applications don't work or are not really controllable, also the screen is often very small cause they have the wrong resolution.

So I think most of the Java Emus aren't really usable yet?

P.S: Yes, you should never say that you are a girl in a "geek" forum like this. I know enough girls who pretend to be male in the Internet to get less spam :p

I researched mxit for a while and ended up stickin to pidgin as the best option.
It has most of the functionality I need, not sure what functionality is missing that you miss! Are you also from South Africa Vampyre? (mxit is only really popular here I think). I thought I was the only N900 user around here!
