All I'm gonna say to that is ignorance is bliss.

Of course that goes to people in both camps... but (the archetypical) iPhone users are not supposed to care about much of the details of their gadgets whereas the users here are the ones supposed to be more analytical and understand the intricacies of mobile gadgets and their ecosystem.

So yeah, imho you're right on the last point...

ugh . . . can there be a new subforum under general for trolling and mildly sexist fanboyism?

Let girls be girls and men be men :)

What do you mean? To be a man you have to go type stuff in the terminal? And load 100s of OS that are partially incompatible in your phone? You know what what you are suggesting is that to be a man you have to get frustrated with this kinda stuff. I can guarantee that iPhone users are more relaxed than phones using other OS. Damn when the hell are you guys gonna stop being stubborn and actually agree with the right thing? You know it yourself.
Remember Steve jobs is an alien - he can make anything possible. He is new to the phone market , and has already dominated it
iPhone users don't have to worry. Even the old iPhone 3G has iOS4, and the iPhone users didn't even have to beg for it.

You just don't get it, do ya? A man got to do what a man got to do. Or he won't be a man. Suit yourself. Android we can stomach (hardly but still), iOS - not so much.

Steve Jobs dominating the phone market is up for debate with his 2 percent global market share. But I can give you the benefit of the doubt. He probably is dominating some of the younger female uptown classes in various western markets, but that's about it.

Point is that that's a pointless argument.

You actually search that stuff?

That is exactly the speech of a guy who is really, really insecure and has to boost his ego by doing things that are really "manly"

Ugh, I'd never date one like that.

You are the one who is not getting it I am talking about phone market and I don't care about what Steve does with females. Quit stalking him if you don't like iphone. Who cares about how many percent of stock he has in global market share, apple stock is rising fast, really fast; and iPhone plays a huge part in it

You know what. A phone is a social gadget. It connects people, among other things. As a social gadget it sort of tells a story about you as a person in this complex web of human relations that constitutes our society. What it boils down to, in a social context, is very simple; Who do you want to be in these social relations described here and here. Simple things, you were certain clothes, drive a certain car, have a certain hair style - and - use a certain phone.

Most of those posts are just trolls. Openness don't matter anymore, because people with imagination are investing their time on the closed side. There's enough talk over this stupid topic, somebody close the thread. Let's just contribute to the forum.

The topic here is girls and iPhone users in a social context. Read the first post. If you don't like the topic, then why are you here? and why are you constantly heading off topic? The topic is fun as well, at least be man enough to cheer up :)

I've had n70, n80 and n96 in recent past, 2 of these developed faults right after the 1 year warranty period and paid to fix one and dint repair the n96 and now its just a 32gb memory stick if i ever bother to buy a new battery for it.

The n900 i bought back in jan of this year, was immediately in awe as well as disappointed, in awe of the amazing hardware and what it could do and disappointed at lack of anything significant to show off. And nokia seemed to have ditched it right off the bat.

Quantity of applications doesn't necessary translate into their quality.
You have first-hand experience, though, with iPhone apps, so you know better whether all the applications have high quality, or not.
Nokia always seems to provide no support to a device, because it immediately concentrates on the other and completely different operating system. While Apple has the same iOS for all devices, from iPod to iPad.

Good for you. I don't try Nitroid and MeeGo even now, when it's said to be easy. I don't really like Android, but I do like MeeGo, the only reason not to try it is absence of microSD card or reliable card-less boot method (and my contentment with Maemo).

Jail-breaking? You aren't an average iPhone user, it's clear. Therefore, don't bother yourself with prejudices about common iPhone users.
Tons of navigation software? From my point of view, N900 has more than enough. ModRana, Navit, Ovi maps, CloudGPS,I-dont-remember-what-else...
Games? I don't play games. Nevertheless, check out Destroid and Qthello and Peqersi and something-else and many emulators for N900.

Here when i was only having n900 i used to refresh the repos every day to see if anything interested is available or when ovi will have any proper games for it. The only games i bought for n900 were th only ones available, Angry birds, and that tranquil rope coloring game i forgot the name and can't be bothered to find my n900 to check it out. I hardly come here anymore as i'm too busy with iphone stuff whenever i have free time.

Too busy with iPhone games? Unworthy end of jail-breaking.
N900 has hundreds of free games in repositories, I suppose. I mostly ignore them (except, maybe, for challenge of Reversi against computer).

Update isn't the only thing from Nokia. Thanks to cross-platform Qt, we can have breath-taking panorama application, which was developed for N8.
And thanks to openness of Maemo, there are a lot of applications being developed.
And MeeGo has practically arrived to N900.

I don't know whether you are concerned about other devices or not, but Apple and Nokia sue each other over patents, Steve Jobs ridicules Android as if Android concerns him a lot, etc.

We can indulge ourselves in all kinds of politically correct nonsense, but facts are still facts even if we don't like them :)
