Re: Update for Enhanced kernel for power users just released

I have v40 now, is it worth updating to v45? I trust these packages pretty much, but none seems to be compatible with multiboot and overclock and camera? Or is this just for some.. Advice! :)

Use XP or ubuntu instead.

See, I think you have a usb problem, you don't get a working connection between your computers and the n900.

There's no problem with windows 7... The problem is with 64bit OS's

Try turning the N900 off and taking out the battery for about 30 seconds and see if that fixes your keyboard light problem.

i would suggest to the developers something like we do in lilo when recompile a new bzImage,

in case of fail the new kernel, we could have a option to boot the last...

is anyone able to tell me if it is possible under this architecture?

Re: Update for Enhanced kernel for power users just released

I'm on PR 1.2 and installed the latest power45 kernel, if I press any key during the U Boot load cycle I get an interesting command prompt where I can type "help" and various commands, but within 5 seconds or so the N900 turns off.

Is this normal? Is there any way to stay in that command mode and not have the N900 turn off (I'm guessing it's "bootloader command mode?)

I am running PR 1.2 and have upgraded power kernel to v45 from the very stable v40. However, what I don't get, why is the menu laggy as f*ck?? It skips so many frames during scroll.

Maybe because it's designed for PR1.3.

Can I just mention that if you still get the penguin when connecting to a pc then you need to make sure your battery is charged enough before trying again or it will not go into update mode and connect to pc/flasher.

Can someone give me a link to FCam drivers 1.0.7-2 please? I tried the search function but cant find them.

Edit: Managed to find and install the newest fcam drivers by uninstalling and reinstalling BlessN900.

I don't really know the reason why this worked for some people and cause trouble for others (different hardware or different preconditions in what was installed maybe). But I know that titan threw in a different u-boot in the 44 version compared to the 43 version. Whatever difference that made for some is not clear afaik.

THEORY:
People with board revision 2204 will have problems. All those that have 2101 should be fine use new power kernel( please let us know your rev and if you managed to boot. so this can be clarified )

To see hw rev use healthcheck or type in xterm:
softupd -D --local
flasher --local -i

good luck

if the indicator light is on and is orange, that means n900 is charging the battery right?

Updated from v40 to v45 with application manager, broke boot with kernel panic message.

Since I already had multiboot installed, I was able to use "run noloboot" then it started multiboot's menu, selected stock kernel and it let me boot.

hi..have a quick question.. I'm using the easy oc script and it automatically updated to the new kernel and I ended up like a few others with the infamous penguin and it stop at the kernel loading..my question if I disable the testing repository will it stop the new kernel from loading as the script loads everything automatically? ty

I can confirm that mine was indeed on revision 2204 and had the freezing on u-boot problem with version 44 of the kernel. Worked upon downgrading to 43 and now just booted with 45 and everything seems to work still. Thanks to titan and everyone else who worked on fixing this.

Is anyone finding that they can charge the battery using usb? Or wall charger?
I've had mine connected wiht usb for a couple of hours now. It cycles through u-boot and shows orange charge light periodically but I have no idea if it is in fact charging

HW version 2101 here; no multiboot.
Ver 44 working first day; then second day stalled after booting, at kernel starting.
Restored backup (backupmenu v0.32)
Installed ver 45 - so far so good.

Juanma9 2010-11-12 05:41

Re: Update for Enhanced kernel for power users just released

ok so i got the solution on how to run multiboot with the new power kernel.. after the update to power 45 go to x terminal and type "apt-get install kernel-power-bootimg
apt-get install --reinstall multiboot-kernel-power" after this follow the steps here http://talk.maemo.org/showpost.php?p...&postcount=195

if u dont kno how to get acces to those folders get openssh from the manager and set a password of ur liking after that download winscp from here http://winscp.net/download/winscp428setup.exe once downloaded and installed ur gonna need to connect ur phone to the same wifi connection as ur computer , then open the winscp software type were it says host name ur phones ip address on user name type root and on password type the one u set up on openshh. good luck i hope i helped someone.

Juanma9 2010-11-12 05:45

Re: Update for Enhanced kernel for power users just released

but of course on the steps i left on http://talk.maemo.org/showpost.php?p...&postcount=195 you are gonna need to set the version of the new power kernel which would be 45 and not 39 as it says there.
