Re: N800 GPS Navigation Kit in the house!
I read where your windshield type was giving you problems with the included mount.
After using the device in various cars for the past 2 weeks I found an easy solution for me. YMMV... When I extended the N800's kick stand I found that it would fit nicely over the leading edge (facing driver) of any cars sun visor. To hold it in place I used a sunglass clip like the ones shown above. (clipped on the visor upside down so the kickstand is clamped over the top of the visor) Not only does the clip do so securely and allow easy on/off mounting, the visor itself can be used to adjust the screen position. :) |

That's interesting, YoDude
I have a 2007 Toyota Yaris which has upper glove compartments on both sides. I put the N800 in the driver's side compartment when I drove from my doctor's appointment to my office today and it worked beautifully - the compartment door acting as a natural sun shade - except I could not actually TOUCH it as the steering wheel was in the way. I will have to wait for ProClip USA to release the final N800 product, I think. |

How much does the package cost?

Re: N800 GPS Navigation Kit in the house!
The product page has it listed for US $249. Price may vary based on your locality. I'd check with Nokia.com ;)

It sells for $199 Here >> http://www.letstalk.com/product/product.htm?prId=32775
BTW T/fix, have you noticed that with the kickstand extended it clamps on to the top of a standard steering wheel pretty well... good for taking screen shots on straight roads. http://files.myopera.com/yodude/blog/normalnav.png (Schuylkill river along the right I76w is the road.) (Remember kids! Clamping the N800 onto the top of the steering wheel of a moving car is dangerous. It should only be attempted by internet trained profesional test drivers. Please do not try this at home.) :) |
N800 GPS Navigation Kit - Full Review Posted
It's a day late, I know.
Nokia N800 Navigation Kit Review FOUR videos if you count the unboxing. Nearly 50 minutes of total footage on YouTube on the N800 Navigation Kit alone. (sigh) Now back to writing up Vista-on-UMPC articles for a few days. |
Re: N800 GPS Navigation Kit in the house!
Nice...
You keyed on a point that I was trying to convey in my posts on this software... As the first real commercial application for the device that I have used, Navicore is well made and showcases the N800's capabilities very well. Thanks for the vids. http://www.clicksmilies.com/auswahl/ernaehrung004.gif |
Re: N800 GPS Navigation Kit in the house!
I just got back from a trip and wrote all about using my NavKit, N80 and GPS. I was in Puerto Rico and learned that Navicore did not put the maps on it! So I resorted to using the Nokia Maps, Google Maps and Maemo Mapper.
http://blog.davidpitkin.com/articles...le-maps-mobile Maemo mapper worked great as did all the hardware. |
