If we are to look at external battery packs, it would be another thread. |
Re: Battery Tests, Homemade 3000mAh XL Battery & Q&A
Hello & good day to everyone. I've had my N900 since 19/03 bought from ebay!
Hope you don't mind I have some Q's to ask you all as I'm completely new to N900, to linux. I used Symbian S60 5th Ed 5800 before this! The SCUD batteries arrived yesterday. How long would you recommend me charge them to get best battery life out of my N900 please? is your battery meter available to download from the default application maanger? Are there any alternatives to fMMS (tried & using) which are more fully featured although it works great for what it does do? I am using 02 payg 02 WAP GPRS Packet Data connection. Is there a faster modem or faster connection I could setup & how can I add a new packet data connection? I don't yet know of any app to give custom contact rigntones. I have downloaded on wed so far Foreca Weather, fmms after solving issue with app catalogue. Today I have just downloaded Fm Radio, Qtirecco, Documents to go viewer trial. They're great The phone came with PDF reader, blocks, chess, mahjong, marbles, amazon, AP News, Facebook. Only played blocks haven't tried any other yets, donb't know what AP News is. All the twitter widgets & Nokia widgets or shortcuts on the desktop. I've been told I can install some programs I don't have on nokia discussions forum using x-term. So far app have been downloaded using the built-in download manager or application manager. I have the latest 20.2010.36-2. |

Hi Dr_Frost_DK
Should I charge them 5hrs, 7 hrs, 10hrs. I heard these have a higher than 3.7v upto 4.2v limit. Just using standard 5800 nokia charger at mo to charge. |

Just charge it until it says charging complete or lights green. EDIT: Every battery for mobile phones, tablets etc go to 4.2v |

Only battery questions in this thread, it is cluttered enough as it is, anybody else please don't answer all other questions here, please PM, or '1337INT13H' please search or make a thread for other questions then battery related |

Ok dr_frost_dk. One moderator should delete the posts from my profile. I'll put them in the correct category thread next time! :)

Hey, the Japod packaging is nice too, I mean how many other batteries include a dangling Chow dog on a string? :D

Re: Battery Tests, Homemade 3000mAh XL Battery & Q&A
ok I finally got my battery cover. What a mission, it sat for a week at Australian customs for some reason....
Battery life is much improved. Been on for 9 hours so far, and only 25% of battery used. Much better than having 25% left after 9 hours. This is with 2x1200mAh batteries... let alone the Japods or scuds. However, it is not as easy as it looks. Actually, its an absolute ***** to do. I could not do the soldering, after many attempts I just couldnt get it to stick to the battery terminals (admitted, my soldering skills do suck). So I went to a friend, who is a master of soldering (often does video card voltmods etc). He spent 6 hours getting it to work, because: -the batteries wouldn't fit into the slot because of the extra length of adding a wire behind the circuit board -the mugen cover wouldn't close from having the wires from the batteries protruding into it. We solved this by bending it 90 degrees at the top battery. - broke a circuit board - batteries sparked multiple times - wires would not stick to the battery solder points maybe second time round this might be easier, but its definitely not a walk in the park. However, I am happy we eventually got it working, as now for the first time I have a proper working n900... with bonus battery life. Next time round, my idea is to avoid 99% of the soldering. Extend the circuit boards off the battery slightly, and wrap a cable from the metal attaching the circuit board to the battery, to each of the batteries and then to a 2mm connection. Not sure if you are aware or not, but QCPUFreq breaks your widget. When QCPUFreq is loaded, it makes the battery voltage read 44v and the percentage in the thousands edit: I advise anybody thinking of doing this mod to be very careful. Upon attempting to charge my phone again, sparks came flying out of the phone and a lot of smoke. Phone still works. Possible damage to batteries, havent checked this just yet. No voltage registered through the circuit board. edit2: damage to the 2mm connector. Batteries after quite a bit of charge, are now registering a voltage again. appears to have happened after pressure to the 2mm charger by inserting the cable, must have pushed the positive and negative wires just after the charger to touch each other |
