How can i set sound alert when a friend sign into skype or pecan(msn) etc. it is an event. any plugin or hack?

Don't think any such thing exists for the built in messaging app, but Pidgin has buddy pounce which can notify you when a user comes online.

oh thats such a basic thing. i hope something can b done to connect the event to sound notification part.
