Need HELP with SKYPE N900 PLEASE!
 

hi people,

i have some questions and please answer them all if u know.

is it just me who has no echo sound test service in contacts??

people who i call in asia cannot hear me but i do hear them i had this problem after PR1.1 and tried everything even reflashed several times but no luck.

can somebody help me resolve this problem

Never heard of it. Are you sure it's not something to do with your network/provider?

I have never called Asia in my life, so can't comment there, though surely international calls from a mobile is not the best idea in the world (financially speaking).

i tried with wifi and 3g but the same problems remain they cannot hear me!

and i am making international call with mobile cause it has Skype?!
financially speaking) and its not a mobile its a computer.

as far i can remember the echo test sound service choice appear in contacts if u are logged in Skype. but after pr1.1 it didn't.

someone can give me more advise please!!

Hi Ali

I remember having Echo sound test when I first set up skype some time ago but just checked and it's no longer in my contacts...

Skype works perfectly for me though and I use it every day as my business number...

It's in my contacts and i'm on 1.3. It was also there in 1.2.
You should check it's in your Skype account on your PC and if it is try deleting then adding your account on the N900 again

Add echo123 as a skype contact on your N900 and call that from skype...worked for me :-) hope that helps

i did that already and still cannot see it in my contacts i have to 1.3 and reflashed it with emmc several times but no luck

do i have to remove something in xterminal in able to see the echo service in contacts???

Just open the call-ui.
choose dialpad
choose calltype skype
type in: echo123

you dont have to add echo123 to your contacts.
Funny thing, I tried to add echo123 to my contacts, and
the contacts app said, this contact is already there?
I dont know why but in my contactslist echo123 has
the name "Paul" and Skype-name echo123

Are you typing with the hardware keyboard? I just tried, and it worked fine.

Well, is your N900 different to ours? seriously, i mean it might be.

Really trying to help you here, both Nicolai and I have given you fairly simple ways to add echo test...

Again

1 open contacts
2 create new contact
3 in skype box type in echo123
4 save
5 skype call echo123

If you've tried that and it doesn't work tell us how...

or if you have skype on your PC, press the directory button and search for echo...there are many you could try...

ok mine N900 is not different for sure:D

and i did put echo123 in dialpad to call itl
do i suppose to hear something?? cause i dont and after half minute it disconnect it self?

@Ali: Calling echo123 is a nice trick to force skype to make a connection to the skype servers.
Once the connection is made, the hope is that the connection lives on until you make the call to your other skype friends.

Because of the success of this trick, I find myself always calling echo123 before attempting to skype with anyone - especially if I haven't used my phone for extended times or if I have just recently switched to 3g from wifi.
