Battery going dead when not in use?

My unit when not used for a couple of weeks does not hold the battery charge. I am wondering if something triggers my unit to come on that I have not noticed and that is why the battery goes dead. Any one experiencing this?

no battery will hold its charge indefinitely. that said, if you put the device into low power mode, or "lock touch screen and keys", the wifi and bluetooth will still be able to connect out and do their thing, like update RSS feeds and what not.

So is there a standby option, that doesn't completely shut it down, but *does* disable all wifi?

Put the tablet into offline mode before locking the screen and keys.

My battery dies if I don't plug it in to charge overnight and the wifi is on and connected to my home network. In total I actively use it for about 1-2 hours
during any 24hr period. Most of the day I'm not in wifi range, so it just connects
while I'm home at night.

I have been experimenting by switching to offline mode, which will hold the
charge for a couple of days before I need to recharge. I haven't played with
any connection settings to see if I can increase it's endurance.

There is a major difference between the 770 and the 800. When the cover is put on the 770, it both goes off line and goes into lock screen/keys mode. With the 800, it takes two operations to accomplish the same.

true. However, this morning, I noticed that mine wasn't going offline when the cover was on. I'm not sure what happened, but all the sounds were barely adible as well. I did a shutdown and reboot and then it seemed to be normal again.

Only one, if you edit mce.ini correctly.

If I leave on my blue tooth and walk away from the device, it will lose power fast, turn off and be warm enough to cook eggs :-) I'd suggest only using blue tooth when necessary... But I could leave on my N800 with a wifi connection and messengers running and go to sleep and it will still be available when I wake up, just very little power.

Even when these things are "off" they're not really off. There will still be some power to keep the date and time. If you're going to shut it down to store it, pull the battery.
