hello! wow long time since I got in here! Thanks a lot to Mornage I managed to get nitdroid running on my phone, sorry for going missing for so long, work and stuff.

Now, as I remembered I had to disable pin request in order to go online, the problem now is that for some reason my phone is not connecting to my cellphone provider =/ I remember I had to run some commands when I had it in the past but for some reason I can't find that anywhere now =/ any help?

Also I'm using Umay12, do you guys think I should update it to 14? thanks a lot again!

N14 is not stable yet. very slow. root doesnt work. and also Nitdroid doesnt recognize internal storage in N14.

Disable sim lock in Maemo and try booting NITDroid again. If that fails, I'd try mounting your NITDroid partition to /and and untarring the archive again.

yeah, as panjgoori said above N14 is not stable and nor is it likely to be in the near future. Stick with N12 (although you can try the updated 2.3.7 version) as it's most stable.

If disabling pin lock in Maemo hasn't fixed airplane mode (I presume you have tried to disable airplane mode after pin lock was disabled) try un tarring the archive again.

If however, you have a connection to your network (can receive text messages) but no 3G, you'll just need to add the APN settings.

I tried the autoinstaller beta3 and it worked perfectly! Nitdroid also woked prety good. But, when I exited from nitdroid and try to boot to maemo...maemo doesn't boot. Then a dead loop and so I must reflash the phone.

any suggestions?

note: I used leafpad to change int-card to mmcblk0p2.

this, I don't have airplane mode stuck, it seems to me as if it has no APN seetings, since I can connect to wifi.

now... how do I configure these APN settings? when I enter it shows 3 available cellphone providers in my country, I choose the one I have and it says settings updated, but still no connection, if I enter on access point name, it's completely empty and I have no clue how to create one =/

When into APN settings, use the lock switch to open the menu, you will then be able to add your APN settings.

You'll probably need a google search to find the correct settings for your network and you may have to play around a bit to get it to work, for example, with T-mobile UK you would normally need a user name and password, however on NITDroid it wont work if this is added.

It looks like either the multiboot menu item is incorrect or the kernel is not in the correct place (/root/multiboot (IIRC)). If you can still get into NITDroid, you may be able to check this with terminal or even with a file viewer.

You really didn't need to change the menu item like you did for Maemo as this is created automatically and should work. I'm thinking there may be a typo in the line you changed maybe!?

No I can't get into nitdroid again. Once I exited from nitdroid I can't boot into any OS.

Concerning the multiboot and kernel : shouldn't the autoinstaller do everything by itself?

No, it's not a typo since when int-card was written I couldn't load nitdroid but when I changed it into mmcblk0p2 it worked.

any ideas?

EDIT: is the charger connected when you are booting? There used to be some issues with multiboot where it wouldn't boot correctly when charging. It should have been fixed but it's worth disconnecting from your charger if Maemo isn't booting.

If you can't boot any OS, you are going to need a re-flash. How did you install, SD card or eMMC? If you used the SD card, your mulitboot item for NITDroid would be mmcblk1px if it's eMMC then is should be mmcblk0p5.

The auto installer will create the correct items for Maemo which do not need to be changed.

I did a reflash to my phone.

I have the internal memory eMMC..but I used to enter mmcblk0p2!! Is mmcblk0p2 wrong? I read it before in this thread and I used it..

you can just install them via android market. create a google account and in settings add that google account. then go to the market. download apps. it installs automatically. remember you will need a wifi connection or 3g

Sorry for the late reply.

mmcblk0p2 is your 2gig opt partition. I've never filled it so am not sure if it can cause issues booting.

You are best off re-partitioning MyDocs if you feel confident and then use mmcblk0p5 for NITDroid.

One reboot should be enough. Make sure you have the keyboard open though or multiboot will load the last kernel and rootfs used.

For your previous questions:

To find your version you should be able to see this in settings>about phone.

Whether you can see your MyDocs partition depends on the type of install. If you installed on eMMC you will not be able to see it. If you have it on a SD card you will be able to access it as an SD card. You'll probably need a file viewer such as Astro.

Install apps in 3 ways:
* From the market as described above
* Place the APK in /and/system/app when in Maemo and it will install the next time you boot NITDroid (not everything will install this way).
* Use a file viewer and navigate to the place you saved the APK and run it (you'll have to allow installation of non-market apps in settings>security).

Hey guys, so I've had NITDROID for months now (2.3.4, stable no problem) so I decided to try upgrading 2.3.7.
extracted the files to /and and the update worked no problem, but eventually after a few days downgraded it back

Now everything works as always except I cannot do a home button press (long press on camera button) anymore?
But back (short camera button press) works

(I tested the camera button in maemo for short + long press, and it works there)

any ideas?

Hi guys i have nitdroid 2.3.4 installed and it works very well but i have two problems that i would like to know if there is a way to resolve.
The first one is when i receive a sms i only receive the text relative to the size of 1 sms (for example, if the sms is long enough to occupy 2 sms i only get the first part). Is this normal ? Is there any way to get past this ?
Second, i am from Portugal, and as far as i can see the keyboard mapping is for the US layout, is there any way to change the keyboard mapping for the European (or specifically Portuguese) layout even if it has to be manually?
Thanks

yes sms problem is a bug in Nitdroid. you donot receive one msg complete (160 chars). bug which is not resolved till yet trims msgs to 100 chars if i remember. and for keyboard problem there are many keyboards available for Android. best and popular one is Swift key X. a nice looking keyboard but its not free you have to buy it from Android market.

About the keyboard i was talking about physical keyboard though... The letters are all ok but the "shift" commands are all messed up and i wanted to know if there is any way to change those...
One more thing i can send files through bluetooth but cant receive... is that a known bug too ?

For optimization I use Autostarts to cut ALMOST ALL app autostart requests (not just when booting, also when e. g. app installation complete), beware that this actually prevents functions from working (e.g. alarms won't work) so cut requests to your own need. Also killing tasks with Advanced Task Killer is necessary.
Rooting? I downloaded latest SU 3.0.7 package and extracted to the appropriate folder and it doesn't work; but when I delete the "su" bin file it worked out fine.
I returned to 2.3.7 BLENDED though, 4.0.3 is too slow in portrait mode...

At the moment e-yes is working to port Nitdroid on N9 too, so we have to wait for now..but in the meantime, and in my freetime because I'll finish my studies in the end of April, I'm studying HW & SW documents to help the project ;)

dont know about the keyboard thing then. but bluetooth is working fine for me. if you can receive files or the device is not searching your N900 then tick discoverable option in bluetooth options in settings. your device will be discoverable for 2 mins.

I would like to see any improvement in actual Nitdroid, even if very minor, that would be better to wait so long between releases.

In my opinion, rather than phone calls, GPS or other big stuff, the focus should be on improving performance and stability of Nitdroid 2.3.7 so it can become the stable release with improved accelerometer support over 2.3.4 and camera working.
