Still this makes things worse as the log does not go past "using aplay for prerecorded sounds" I wonder if I'm missing some other tick box or something because of the font? Seems the OMVS is not communicating with the Ovi Maps at present as I dont get any of the searches or log info being passed over... any ideas guys? |

Re: Ovi Maps Extra Features - Now with voice guidance (early development)
Just want to update you all with my experience so far -- mine setup has been working very well. I use Dummy Connection and it appears to work better(at least for me). With 'ad hoc' connection, it seems I have to start the voice server first; while I can start the voice server any time I want when using Dummy connection.
There is one minor thing I run into; that is espeak would sometime say the name of the voice file and then the street name. Meaning I will get the voice guidance(eg. turn right in 300meters) then espeak would say the filename of the 'turn right in 300 meters'(sometime right after the voice guidance and sometime during the voice guidance) and then the street name. by the way, does anybody has the know-how to get mbrola http://tcts.fpms.ac.be/synthesis/ to work with espeak. Cheers, PS: again thank you Blaizzen, your hard work has made it all possible |

Hi,
@cheve, which index.html did you use? maybe mine is old. @Blaizzen, do you update your index.html which can be downloaded from the first post? Cheers, Blck |

Re: Ovi Maps Extra Features - Now with voice guidance (early development)
Just uploaded a new version to devel with more logging (so it'll add to the log what voices are added to the list of spoken commands, and hence maybe it'll identify where issues can arise).
Additionally I found an issue when espeak is not installed, it goes into an endless cycle waiting for the voices to be returned. This has been fixed so that if espeak is not available, it will not give you the option of espeak and disable the function. Let me know if there are any issues/bugs or if your log says that the sounds are added but still no sound is played. Edit: Found a slight bug when you change voice language during runtime, it doesn't load the command tester properly. Will be fixed in next version as its nothing major. To get passed it, just restart the server after changing language. |
