n900Fly
Anyone tried this "idiot app"?
My record is 1.16m (any higher and risk hitting the ceiling). Have not tried outdoors yet. I just couldn't resist testing the app (sorry, N900). :D |
Re: n900Fly
Next app up is n900swim and I am confident we have
more than one experienced entrant for that event. :D |
Re: n900Fly
n900airplanedrop? Sky dive with it, taking your own WiFi access point running a rudimentary server, let it go and have it transmit logs by WiFi as it falls. Highscore tables can be kept for the amount of tumbling, the amount of side-to-side distance traveled, amount of vertical distance traveled, and top speed, before the N900 stops transmitting.
(Actually, iPhones are probably better suited for the purpose.) Seriously, no, I haven't tried n900fly - it seems like a really nice idea, but my N900 was a very serious investment for me, even second hand, as a jobless college student, and I am not going to risk any more drops than already occasionally happen. (Though damn, it's a trooper when it comes to the impacts it has taken. Still runs completely fine.) - Edit - Naturally, those that score the highest scores with n900airplanedrop are those with sufficiently large balls to skip out on the parachute part, and making sure their wifi server is blackboxed and armored enough to take the impact. Those on a budget can do their best to aim their bodies so that their flesh cushions the impact of their storage media. |

Re: n900Fly
I'm thinking to try this application with my friend's HTC Desire...What? There's not such an application for Android? What a pity...Well, I'll do it anyway :D

I have only tried it outdoors, where it would fall onto grass if I don't catch it. But I haven't gone over 2.6 metres because I still don't want to risk dropping it. |
Re: n900Fly
Ha ha! I had the same feeling.

Re: n900Fly
Does it work the other way, like down and then up ?
If so, someone take one bunjy jumping, may measure the drop for them, how cool would that be ? could turn into a really cool app then..... |
Re: n900Fly
nope......not enough guts and courage to do this even in doors.
i dont play much tossing-like games such as basketball. i'm afraid trying this outdoors would cause my N900 to drop on a neighbor's rooftop...... |
Re: n900Fly
I wonder will it work if we bubble wrapped the N900?
