Moreover, is it possible to add the following enhancements:
Switch on/off of Adan for each individual pray time
Customize the Adan Ringtone
Add widget to show the time left to pray time

In case anybody is wondering which calculation method is used since the program for the time being does not ask the user for input. I looked through the code and here are the current fixed values:

Calculation Method: Muslim World League
Asr Prayer Calculation: Based on Shaf'i mathhab

I'm sure options for selecting this shall be added soon to munadi but I wanted to make sure for the time being that ppl understand what this is based on.

Please note that the developer of this app is haqman he did not create an announce thread so we will use this thread for now to discuss munadi.

For those interested in the development side of things he is hosting this project on source forge and not in the maemo garage.

and yes my brother we all need this feature to input time for each azan and sound file as well

since every place has different time for some salah like "maghrib" there are different time for maghrib salah for each city almost, so we must need this feature

I am very sorry, I just noticed this thread, I wanted to create one, but wanted to recover first (very bad flu+ear infection).

Thanks for creating this though, as it gives Munadi more publicity.

So far, I have Turkish translation to include in the next release, thanks to HtheB.

I've received a large number of requests for new features, which includes:

- Custom athan
- On/off for individual athans
- 24hr format clock
- Use Location API for getting phones location
- Ability to select calc method as well as school/mathhab.
- Ability to change athan easily (can be done now using copy/paste)

Also, there are 2 qt/c++ devs wanting to contribute, I will reply to their email, and see what we all can do together, break tasks evenly maybe or ....

At the moment, the most important bit is to get version 0.1.0 out to extra's repo, so average users get to use Munadi, and more people get to know about the project, as not many people enable testing/dev repo's.

Also, go through my gmail, as i have a large backlog now :D

hi and salamualaikum to muslim here...
i would like to suggest if you can put the small icon at clock area when it running background. and if possible, can add the option to change azan and to change azan volume. sometime in silent area or maybe in the toilet, i don't want azan in toilet.
anyway, very nice work!!! keep it up!!:rolleyes:

Patch to enable portrait mode (without breaking Hadith UI).

(Also, you can use #ifdef Q_WS_MAEMO_5 instead of defining maemo5 yourself, I changed all (I think) instances of #ifdef maemo5 to Q_WS_MAEMO_5 and removed the define)

Thx Haqman for this great app.. may allah reward you for of us.. & all your work gets blessed by him..

about the athan enable/disable button.. i also think its really important..

my wish is if you or anyone that can help making a widget or a simple desktop command that shows time left for each prayer..

Haqman if you can let the program export a file each day lets say at 12 am with the prayer times and other program or widget uses it..

it was my wish from the minute i got my n900.. & am sure a lot of people will like it...

Thanks for the suggestions, I will try and include the features mention, but not all of them, it take time.

I will try and include on/off button for individual athan.

If the phone is on silent, you will NOT hear the athan, it must be on General mode or similar.

As for the "trayicon", it is not supported by Qt at the moment, and this is a Qt app, they say it will be supported soon, will have to wait then and see.

Having a screen widget is a good idea, but I'll have to leave it tell last.

There is no easy way the the moment, as the application is not in the main repository.

From your N900 browser, click:

http://repository.maemo.org/extras-t....1.0_armel.deb

If it triggers the installer, then you are good to go, if not:

You need to enable extras-testing repository:

http://maemo-freak.com/index.php/hac...vel-catalogues

Once you do that, go to application manager, and search "munadi", once you get the results, click on it to install it.

I would not recommend this though, since you're new.

I am posting to keep everyone updated with the development progress since haqman is quite busy these days.

- MohamedAG's patch to switch to portrait mode was added

We're still working on some of the other requests you made before the next release.

By the way the mPrayerTime project has released a new update that enables Athan alarms. You should check it out if you haven't.

As Ali mentioned earlier, most of the requested features are added plus more!

Here is a quick overview of features:

Mashallah, this is a great app! All the options are well thought out and useful. I do have a suggestion though-
along with/instead of the compass showing the direction of qibla wrt north, a screen showing the direction of quibla wrt to the current position of the sun/moon would be much more useful. especially because the n900 doesnt have an inbuilt compass.

Ps. can't the hadiths be integrated elsewhere? like a random hadith widget or something?

Thanks for the suggestion, but can you please expand on the Qibla thing, as I don't clearly understand how you want it to work! I believe you are talking about the old method of using shadow length wrt sun or something similar?... Or am I going too far :D

As for the Hadith, I really wanted to keep it, but there are many issues with having them, of which translation. The app will be translated into Arabic and Turkish (and other languages hopefully), and not sure what to do with English only Hadith collection, as I need to dig the Hadith's in different languages.

The other reason, which is the main behind removing Hadith is the legitimacy of the source, I cannot or don't have the time to ensure the Hadiths are correct and verified, and I am not ready to have the responsibility of distributing false Hadith, a major problem :(

Basically, how it works is, it takes the time, the date, and the geographical location and predicts the position of the sun/moon (probably from an algorithm as the aforesaid app did not connect to the net) wrt to a compass. Now the direction of the qibla is overlaid on the image and a person can align his mobile with the sun and get the correct qibla direction.




Legitimacy, is a very critical and valid problem. I believe it can be solved by making the app read the hadith from a database of "Sahih- Bukhari" or "Riyadhu Saliheen". Even Arabic/English translations are easily available from the net.

Another feature idea that came into mind now is (please don't think I am over abusing your kindness) to have an offsetted alarm. ie, Now the alarm (adhan) goes off exactly at the time of the adhan. Suppose everyday I wanted to wake 10minutes after Zubah adhan, or in Ramdan I wanted to wake 45 minutes before adhan? So this can be a simple alarm that goes off a specified amount of minutes before/after the actual adhan.

This feature already exists in munadi 0.2. In the same settings tab where you enable and disable individual athans you can also set an offset from the calculated athan time to the time you want your phone to call for the athan.

I saw this feature but there is a problem. It changes the actual adhan timings. For example, If I want to wake 10 minutes before Zubah, I just want an alarm at that time, I dont want to change the actual time of the Adhan.

This is doable but might take us quite some time. We are already using a library that uses the great circle method to find the direction of the qibla.

So what we would need to add is an algorithm that also finds the direction to the sun, which updates itself over the course of the day and we can display the relative positions based on that.

Hmmm, yeah you are right. You may have to do both these together. But IMHO, only then will the qibla direction feature become really useful. In my N95, it helped me a lot, whether i was just a few blocks away or a few 100 kms away from home/mosque.

Hope you take this into consideration, atleast for a future 0.3 version.

EDIT: Here http://ssd.jpl.nasa.gov/horizons.cgi, the data is available. Maybe the required data can be pulled from here? They have a Web and telnet interface. Would that be enough?

As for the sun thing, it looks really cool and clever idea indeed, but as Ali mentioned, it need a lot of work by the looks of it. Ali can expand on this, he done the compass :)

As for the Hadith, not sure what database you are talking about, also, how can I ensure the DB is legit and not messed around with!
Please help me with some links if you know, as the ones I found are not that reliable!

As for the alarm, expect it in the next release, as it fits nicely with the coming features:
- Different athan for fajr
- Duaa before or after athan (think of it as an alarm)
- ... and many more

Expect another tab besides the current +/-'s

I have mentioned an alternate method in my previous edited post whereby i think you can pull data about sun/moon position from NASA's website. I don't know how much practical this will be...

Hmm, another feature enhancement, if you don't mind.

Problem:
Right now, the any sort of indication appears only for those prayers that we have marked in the config. I don't want adhan while I am in office, but I want an indication that it is time for prayer.

Possible Solution:
How about a vibration/single beep notification for the rest of the prayers so that even in meeting, when I don't want the whole adhan to play, I can know the time for prayer. This should be configurable via settings.

i hope to see in next update *adhan to choose in .mp3 format from EMMC or MEMORY CARD, so we can customize our own adhan and to make an extra option to choose different adhan for Fajr

In the current version you can select a different athan file in any format supported by your n900. You can also play the file you selected to make sure it plays properly. I think this is in one of the settings tabs.

Regarding the different athan for fajr I think it's a good idea to eventually have that.

OK since version 0.2 has been out for a couple of weeks now let me try to collect the requested features for ver 0.3 in one post so we could start implementing. (By the way haqman plans on releasing 0.21 which would just include translations)

1. Independent fajr athan file
2. Ability to change when the athan is played without offsetting the actual displayed time
3. Add an alternate Qibla finder that uses the position of the sun and the moon instead of the traditional compass.

Let us know if I missed anything.
