Gizmo Project with AIM and MSN

I just got a lovely email this morning.

Gizmo project now supports AIM and MSN contacts with support for ichat and yahoo buddies coming soon (iChat buddies meaning Oscar compatible).

Color me impressed, if they keep working on the Gizmo client I might not end up using skype after all this lol. =)

I saw that but saw no way to get it working on the n800. Perhaps this.is forthcoming?

Guys, the latest beta for Gizmo on the N800 has had support for this for a few weeks already. A contact is added at the top of the screen that says "Add MSN/Yahoo/AIM buddies!"

Yep. just got it now. They sent me an e-mail. Was a little confused as to how to get to chat with the 'set up' program but I got it working and they dumped every buddy I ever had into my phone book. Suddenly I feel so loved. ;-)

But look at the release date of the N800 version. It's still from February! So in the email they mention that it works on all supported versions of Nokia devieces... It doesnt show any new version of let's say yesterday or today. For any platform.

I suggest you refresh your browser cache or something. Both version I'm looking at on Gizmo's page say May 31st 2007.

Having to open certain ports for gizmo makes it useless in public places where we don't have control over access points. Is skype like that, I never use either much. I tried gizmo out a few times but it usefullness was not met.

I just installed the latest version of Gizmo and setup my AIM/MSN accounts... Great and all, but the lack of ability to bring in Buddy groups (or add them after the fact) is a real bummer... It takes about 45 seconds to scroll to the bottom of my Buddy List!

I think I'll stick with Pidgin (Gaim) for now.

Re: Gizmo Project with AIM and MSN

I just set up Gizmo on my shiny new N810 and am having a probalem with MSN contacts. When I add a contact, select MSN from the dropdown I tap in the hotmail add and it's all fine and dandy but when I go back to the contact list, it has made it jsmith%hotmaill.com which is not jsmith@hotmail.com - thought it might be ok but it's not finding people online so I'm guessing there's something up. Is it just the keyboard layout or something?

I'm probably being incessently stupid but I can't find any help anywhere - don't have a go, I've not used linux before and the furthest I've ever got in the techie world I've got is A Level ICT which believe you me, teaches you sweet FA so I've been doing my fair bit of searching round this place and the rest of the internet. And I'm very impressed with myself so far haha!

When you add a new contact, when it asks what group you want it in, delete 'Contacts' and type in what you want. Then you get a new buddy list. Drag the others in from there

Is that what you meant?
