well, all that means is that the original (long ago planned) hardware for n9 got an upgrade. this would be very good news if true.

It's true and he adds quite a bit on his leaks, but he reviewed N900 with pics before we had even really seen the device, knew that Nokia does not have booth in MWC before MWC own page reported it, was the first to report that N8 will get delayed and he has been leaking stuff over at MR years before Engadget started quoting him.

I do most of the time believe the main points of the rumours he posts, but usually his reasonings, reviews and his everyday twitter posts are something different. Just get the main point and ignore the rest.
Example the reason that Nokia does not have booth in MWC was because if Nokia did not have money for it according to him... enough said. ;)

Lets say N9 is scrapped he did not say exactly what was scrapped was it RM-680 or something else. So as a whole this isn't really revealing too much. Like he said there's still of course N9 coming.

Countdown to what? You should probably contact developer that made windows file-copy maybe he has some ideas for this app.

Maybe Nokia just REALLY wants to take their time to make it REALLY REALLY awesome (and dependent on closed-source). Maybe the new rumor is that they will be trying the Duke Nukem Forever technique for developing this new, most AWESOME product that you will void in your pants for? :)

On financials, Nokia stock looks like it peaked back in October of 2007 and it's been downhill since. Lately, it's looked especially bad, though. Mind you..stock value is more about investment than performance, but it makes you wonder whether investors are losing faith in Nokia. SAY IT AIN'T SO! :P Wonder what they'll do to save face in the meantime before the N9 comes out to take over the world, eh?

Well, what if Nokia with Elop's good connections to Microsoft, decides to alliance with MS, and nokia reorganize it's portfolio to windows phones... or what if MS buys nokia... Nokia needs a strategy and MS needs a hw-provider to penetrate markets.

THen they would dump meego and symbian....

we better buy some extra N900's for the future :cool:

Can't say that the invitations would be much of a tease for anything great and thinking Nokia don't have booth in MWC how likely is that we are going to see phone announcement? Most of all from the MeeGo side.

It's not all doom and gloom as Intel has already said that there will be device announcements from MeeGo side in MWC and they got lots of space in MWC.

The last time I remember someone OFFICIAL from Nokia blogposting about how SOMETHING BIG was coming, and everybody thought it might be a new version of Maemo or some new device... it turned out to be a useless piece of software that Nokia released with much fanfare but nobody was really interested in. Especially after so much hype and expectation was raised about it being "something big".

Wouldn't be it appropriate and funny if history repeated itself and it turned out to be... TADA! An all new Ovi Store! or something like that. :P No new software really.. just a new store. heheh If the N900 people are lucky, MAYBE it'll be a new OviMaps app with proper turn-by-turn navigation or something. heheh Something big indeed.

OTOH... as long as it's any kind of GNU/Linux based OS, I don't really care if it's a Nokia or LG or HTC or whatever. Nokia, until now, was the only company that offered such a system. Maybe with MeeGo we'll finally get a choice. (Actually, I'm sick and tired of depending on Nokia and its management.)

But you know what, I think the "or join" thing is a bit like this too. Just building expectations. By admitting they might "or join" you attract a lot of attention, you make lots of writers and investors happy, and more than that, you make your own employees more concerned that they need to make sure that they are making a good job.

By admitting no alternatives you make your employees less "motivated" (i.e. afraid), make your investors unhappy because it seems like the company is stuck in a single track with no way out, and you make news writers uninterested in you because your fate is sealed. You also pass as arrogant.

The best is to admit the possibility even though you might still be sure inside that switching to android is in fact "a piss in the pants" as the poet used to say.

OBS: Maybe it's all wishful thinking of my part, I want to believe that he didn't really mean that... Who knows?

Agree, but especially when we are talking about phones i rather buy Nokia with it's ecosystem and them being one the founder rather than phone from somebody like Acer. Can't see or believe that any of the other mobile hw vendors are touching handheld MeeGo side any time soon in a big way.

For tablets i'm much more open for different brands.
