In my opinion android is 10 times better than iOS

Re: The iPad killer , Adam
Can't stop drooling at the hardware! I am not a member of the church, but I'm seriously praying that something with theese specs and looks will run Meego some day! ...or Ubuntu... <3

Re: The iPad killer , Adam
You discovered this just now? It's been in vaporware for (almost literally now) years - with the vapor specs being upgraded every few months to keep the nerds drooling.
Here you go - one of the earlier announcements. Check the date. http://beta.thehindu.com/sci-tech/te...?homepage=true At first I was like 'that's cool!' but now - since it's been in gestation before even the Joojoo was officially announced - I'll believe it when I see it actually shipping. Besides, what relegated the 'iPod killers' of 2003-2007 to also-rans is what is also going to relegate the Android tablets: Specs are unimportant except where it's readily apparent to *any* user - and usability / superior firmware is key - it seems to me that the manufacturers of these things never learn. And iOS deals the smackdown to any Android (which is just a poor man's iOS really, unlike something actually different like Windows Phone 7) tablet in that regard, now or in the near future. |
Re: The iPad killer , Adam
I seriously pray one day I'd hold this tablet in my hands
I was just about to order the archos 101 when i came across this. |

You're more than welcome to view it as vaporware, but at least be informed about what's going on with it as of late. And I don't remember, but I'm pretty sure it's not running 3.0. It's promised to, when 3.0 comes out, but seeing as how preorders are supposed to ship within the next few days. I don't believe they got 3.0 on it. So thanks random article writer for not doing research. |

Full specs here. I have to admit, Android/iOS so far is a no go for tablets IMO. Hopefully soon someone will step up and actually make a tablet that is not just a giant phone. IF this thing ships with Android 3.0 and it actually ends up being a good tablet OS I will be interested for sure. And no, running a full unoptimized version of Windows 7 on a tablet is not much better from a UX perspective (although it kills iOS/Android from a capability perspective). |
Re: The iPad killer , Adam
Can we actually remember when discussing UI suitability as a tablet that the Adam isn't going to be using stock Android UI, and indeed has an entirely new UI (which they've called "Eden"... notice a motif here?) they coded over the Android OS they're running. (You can sorta see elements of Android's UI in there, but it's a lot less noticeable than in the Android shipping on most smartphones claiming a custom UI.

Oh yeah, I forgot - poor man's iOS with added 'we're open' chaos. We just don't see it on the N900 repos / Ovi because we have barely any apps. |

Plus, the most detailed information about the Adam has come from Notion Ink itself, and they have admitted it's not going to be running 3.0, though they have talked to Google and tried to figure out what to expect in Honeycomb so they can figure out what they can include now, and if Adam hardware will be able to run 3.0 just fine when it does come out. P.S. To everyone complaining about it being Android - how long do you think it will be before someone figures out how to port MeeGo and/or some other sufficiently open OS onto it? |
Re: The iPad killer , Adam
Well.. I am not being a fanboy of any company, but I personally don't like Android that much.. :/

Re: The iPad killer , Adam
I'm hoping to become one of the first people to toss my desktop entirely and just use my N900, my Kindle and a yet-to be purchased tablet. As it is, I'm no longer using my laptops, though I do dally with my desktop from time to time.

Re: The iPad killer , Adam
geneven: I am almost at that point myself. Lack of sufficient technical knowledge to get stuff like printer driver installed and printing from FreOffice (if it's not completely stripped out of it) working prevents me from fully doing so. Oh, flash 10.1 is a ***** too, for obvious reasons. (Plus minor occasional little things). But I have noticed a severe drop in computer use ever since I got the N900.

Re: The iPad killer , Adam
Heres a detailed look at the production hardware and the definitely nice Eden interface that they cooked up

Re: The iPad killer , Adam
I don't think that anything running vanilla Android (be it version 1.0 or 10.0) can compete in 2011. Customized, manufacturer identifiable UIs are a must in order not to be mistaken with yet another Chinese bulk product.

HDMI out is one of the things I'd really like to see someone take advantage of.. if this thing could run Boxxee, it could really be killer in a home theatre :) |

Because, really, if you can open a doc in a browser, pdf viewer, or open office, and then send it wirelessly, there's no earthly reason you couldn't print (other than the lack of specific drivers)... |

Re: The iPad killer , Adam
For all Notion Ink Adam interested members - the 2nd round of Pre-orders is open
I just put in my email on the 15th Feb and got the Ordering invite email on the 17th and put in my order on the 18th (A Pixel Qi model). Now the anxious wait. I am really stoked. And from Rohan's weekly blogs, its evident that they have already started their work on Honeycomb and it should (and will) be available sometime for the Adam too. To bad Samsung let its Galaxy Tab buyers down with no Honeycomb update to ever come. Edit : Now whenever I look at the topic title I think its just a stupid line. This is not in any way supposed to be any iPad killer. Its just a very good Android tablet I believe - that's it. Whoever went and out in that silly title ...? |
Re: The iPad killer , Adam
Wow, a nice stand for the Adam Tablet from Notion Ink.
Of course this is not specifically for the Adam - its a generic stand that would work nice with any large tablet (plenty coming to the market soon). |
Re: The iPad killer , Adam
Does nayone know if any tablets out there have a radio builkt in (FM, not Internet radio) ?
I heard somewhere that the Adam's secret surprise was the FM radio chip in it. Dont know if this is true... |
Re: The iPad killer , Adam
For those interested - now that the Xoom is out - here is a side-by-side video compare between the Adam and the Xoom..
While the Xoom of course stands out due to its superior screen and the wider viewing angles than the Adam, as well as the nice Honeycomb OS on it (Adam is supposed to get Honeycomb sometime later down the line), the Adam seems to function as well beside the Xoom. If only the Xoom wasnt so freakin expensive, it would have been my choice at this point maybe. |
Re: The iPad killer , Adam
And here is a Notion Ink Adam's big fan - Greg's first impressions of the Xoom compared to his LCD Notion Ink Adam.
Of course being that he is a fan of NI, his impressions are a bit biased - but again its objective enough to glean some important viewpoints from it on both the devices. |

Re: topic
Has Adam made a move yet toward the iPad... cause the iPad is gonna have a successor soon... |

And as far as we know, it is in the process to make a move toward Honeycomb and maybe then to Adam 2. Edit : Aha - are you trying to be snide about the Thread title ? I didn't get your snideness maybe if that was the case, sorry for the wasted snideness on me at least :) If yes, that has got nothing to do with the Adam's actual use and features. Its like comparing the Meego Tablet to the iPad as a killer :D And me as a person, I think that is equally stupid as this thread title itself. But cant help it, someone put it there and so it stays. |
Re: The iPad killer , Adam
A video of the hacked EdenX rom with Android Market support built in...
gives the best of the standard Android with Launcher PRO home screens and the Notion Ink Eden interface. The screen seems much faster scrolling between the screens with this ROM. |
Re: The iPad killer , Adam
A mention of Notion ink in a major tech publication - the issue's feature for March is a section, titled Year of the Tablet, which compares twelve tablets - one of which is the Notion Ink Adam.

I was a little worried about how the Tegra 2 on the Adam performs with respect to games - specifically the recent games made for Tegra 2....
seems like they run smooth as butter on the Adam as well.... A Video review of Samurai II, Fruit Ninja HD and Backbreaker (stunning accelerometer based game) on the Adam |
