Liqcalendar update broken

Hi there,

A humble request for assistance, please:

After installing the update to liqcalendar I can no longer run the program on my N810. This is not good as I have all the dates and deadlines for pretty much the whole year set out on here. If I uninstall the program and reinstall, I'm worried I'll lose the data. I've tried reversing the update by reinstalling the previous package but it hasn't helped. All that happens is it says 'starting liqcalendar' in the little notification box (sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn't), and then nothing happens. Lcuk or anyone - any ideas? I know very little about using the terminal as I haven't really had time to get to know it, so please explain things carefully to me!

Thanks

Jack

Re: Liqcalendar update broken

hey there

please try running liqcalendar from the console and send me the log

liqcalendar-run.sh >/home/user/MyDocs/liqlog.txt

Re: Liqcalendar update broken

Can't connect to internet on n810 or via usb due to being at the office etc, but it seems to load ok until:
./liqcalendar: symbol lookup error: ./liqcalendar: undefined symbol: mkmeta_title

Is that enough for you to see the problem? If not I'll put the full log up once I'm home.

Cheers!

Re: Liqcalendar update broken

thats enough thanks and apologies, when I next get near a scratchbox (hopefully later) I will push an update to rectify.

Ace, thanks man. Liqcalendar/liqbase are completely awesome by the way, so thanks a whole lot for that too. You're keeping an extremely busy man afloat!

Re: Liqcalendar update broken

I don't suppose there's anything I can do myself to sort this out quickly? I'm a bit out at sea without my dates... Cheers!

Re: Liqcalendar update broken

hold on, will try and push to -devel

lcuk 2011-01-08 12:36

Re: Liqcalendar update broken

jack,

http://maemo.org/packages/view/liqcalendar/
in -devel is already updated to version 0.1.1 which should not have this problem
I thought it was because I had not pushed to diablo, but that does not appear to be the case
can you confirm the versions of liqcalendar and libliqbase1 you have installed on your system.

Re: Liqcalendar update broken

It was updating to 0.1.1 that stopped the application working. I then tried rolling back but that made no difference, so I tried again with the update and it's still broken. I can't find libliqbase1 in the applications manager but I just tried to install some various version of it from the garage page and it says that it's installed already or it's an incompatible package. Sorry I'm being a bit of a cretin about this, I should invest more time into learning about this stuff but my entire life is taken up with teaching and music technology at the moment!

Many thanks

Re: Liqcalendar update broken

The version it says is currently installed is 0.3.63

Re: Liqcalendar update broken

hmm
I just had someone else test it on their n810 and had different specific set of errors
I will rectify those and push an update
their log is here http://pastebin.com/ybthLimA
I also just pushed a patch to git which restores the mk_meta functions as noticed by yourself, but I think theres a conflict of a different nature on your device since 0.1.1 does not have mk_meta

Re: Liqcalendar update broken

Wait - I just tried again and got the same result as your test. Must have been running the rolled back version before, so don't worry about that.

I am not

Re: Liqcalendar update broken

hey,

just pushed and tested:

Setting up libliqbase1 (0.3.64) ...
Setting up liqcalendar (0.1.2) ...

to extras-devel

please update your application manager list and install the updates.
It works happily on my n810 and hopefully it will on yours too.

Re: Liqcalendar update broken

Well, after a bit of investigation, I now know why!
I had found out it was only reproducable until midnight last night
and now when I print more debugging information I can see why!

Re: Liqcalendar update broken

speaking of liqbase, why is it not in repos?

I want! (PLease!)

lcuk 2011-01-09 01:58

Re: Liqcalendar update broken

its not in the main repository because theres about 100 papercut type bugs with it (some big, some small) and I have been extremely preoccupied :(

I think today is the longest I have spent with it in a while.
was especially rewarding however to see just how well it runs on my n810 :)

okay, ever since I saw this vid about it (probably over 6 months ago) I have wanted to give it a try, it looks so cool!

it is and I wish I had enough fingers to polish the playground as much as I desire.
it will take time but I chip away at it as I can :)

One thing: how to make liqbase-playground work in Full Screen?

lcuk 2011-01-10 13:09

Re: Liqcalendar update broken

Kroll, on which device?

you are probably using the n810 version which is more out of date, however this will do it:

/usr/share/.liqbase/liqbase.prefs

add a line that says "fullscreen=1" in amongst the other parameters :)

Re: Liqcalendar update broken

Yeh liqcalendar works brilliantly on N810. Great for people who want the bigger screen and need the money for other things!

I use an old version of liqbase and it's great for post-it notes and reading text files (easily the best way of reading fiction I've ever set my eye on, so natural having white on black and easy on the eye, plus the finger scrolling... brilliant).

Re: Liqcalendar update broken

The interesting thing is that there is no .liqbase in /share on n810. I see /usr/share/liqbase/ (without ".") and there is no liqbase.prefs. However, I created one and put line that says "fullscreen=1" into it, but I do not see that it works.

doh! my mistake, you are right of course
/usr/share/liqbase is where the binaries live

it should be:

/home/user/.liqbase/liqbase.prefs
