Hi,

I have starting testig CSSU and I have an idee: it will be usefull to have a mod to take pictures in black and withe.... all old nokia phones can do it

what do you think ?

XiliX 2011-08-04 09:27

Re: The in-development Maemo 5 Community SSU

@Kybo, thats implemented in the CSSU camera...

@Kenny, if you are using Xterminal, you can use the "pwd" command to find out in what folder you currently are, can be usefull in those situations.

Guys, little more patience please, it's been few days ago when raster bug in QT 4.7.4 was smashed, check SSU IRC logs and gitorious CSSU commit logs since Thursday. I am sure there will be new update when things are ready, ok?

MohammadAG 2011-08-06 23:19

Re: The in-development Maemo 5 Community SSU

Indeed, and thanks to freemangordon for smashing it :P

I'm just doing a bit more testing, you know, last time we upgraded Qt **** happened :p

Oh MohammadAG
will you guys make this interigated with the Next update?

karam's speedpatch ?
also the new batterypatch

it's really effective

CSSU + speedpatch + batterypatch + kernel-power v47 + swappolube

makes me enjoy my N900

BTW nice name MohammadAG

Re: The in-development Maemo 5 Community SSU

I don't think it's best idea to put all the thing together, if someone wants cssu, he installs cssu, if someone wants karam's patch - he installs it (i don't say it's not working otherwise this patch is cool same as battery patch) but let final user choose what he wants. Just an opinion :)

Seker_94 2011-08-07 00:06

Re: The in-development Maemo 5 Community SSU

they are good patches

but i don't recommend adding them to CSSU yet
and i agree with pawelstryju

Nokia is not interested in talking about this. Not part of CSSU as such/ as yet.
Basically forget it, there others that you could try in the repository like mapero

Can we include gstreamer0.10-plugins-bad in cssu?
I have a fix for bug 6584(GPS geotagged pictures truncate precision of GPS reading (0 decimal places))

MohammadAG 2011-08-08 11:54

Re: The in-development Maemo 5 Community SSU

https://gitorious.org/community-ssu/gst-plugins-bad

Gitorious doesn't allow the name gst-plugins-bad0.10, so I had to drop that

Please make sure upgrading/patching it does NOT break anything on-device.

Another option would be to put these patches in, and then include an enable/disable checkbox in the CSSU options. This way, you don't have to track multiple patches/mods, plus you have a version that you know works well with CSSU...

Just my 2 cents...

i removed speedpatch and my device improved a lot but i have the battery saver script . so i would say it's down to personal choice.

wierd
i have tried to uninstall speedpatch and reinstall it
i got a lot of better performance with speedpatch
of course super battery script is awesome too

Re: The in-development Maemo 5 Community SSU

Please, oh please, do not pollute also this thread with messages about the ****ing patch!

The CSSU HAS NOTHING TO DO with the "supposed" speedpatch.

arora.rohan 2011-08-08 13:12

Re: The in-development Maemo 5 Community SSU

i think this thread should just be for reporting bugs and all..please dont request for new feature or patches in the CSSU.. dont break something which is not broken.

Just one question, installing the CSSU created a new repo called community something which always gives an error on refreshing.
Will deleting it do anything?

Re: The in-development Maemo 5 Community SSU

You wont get future updates if you delete the repo..
what errors are you getting?

Don't delete it. Just disable it meantime.

Watch this thread to see if a CCSU update is available and then re-enable the repo to "catch" the update.

I can not build the package from this repository.
There are some missing files(compared to
the source from apt-get source gst-plugins-bad0.10):
win32/common/config.h
win32/common/config.h.in
m4/*

MohammadAG 2011-08-08 20:32

Re: The in-development Maemo 5 Community SSU

m4/* is in .gitignore (from maemo.org's repos)

I'll try to fix it asap, FYI, you're in the gitorious group +cssu-developers, everyone in that group can commit/administrate repos.

What about add portrait worldclock to next cssu?
Should I make a package to replace the original or a package to make a backup before replace it?

arora.rohan 2011-08-08 21:15

Re: The in-development Maemo 5 Community SSU

@ MAG : i dont know if this has been answered..but can the portrait mode now be like those on Android phones..with landscape mode only when Keyboard is opened..otherwise phone is locked to portrait? ... if there is a hack..or you guys want a tester..im all in! :) all the best!

If it's working and relatively buglessly, I'd wager a guess that you'd package it to just replace it, not backing anything up. After all, that's what the CSSU is doing - replacing things. And it IS for 'developers'/beta-testers right now, suggesting possible bugs are to be expected.

By default, I should hope not (I've worked a lot with BBs and Androids at my current job, and I must say, I absolutely hate that kind of locked orientation) - I'm all for there being a set of options to control stuff like that though. Of course, at the end of the day either someone steps forward to code it or no one does, and that's that.

Well, then could the new osso-calc be added too.

I think, we are going to have a portrait lock, like a landscape one.

Don't worry about that one. Community CSSU testing is the one you want. Community CSSU will be used whenever a CSSU version is deemed officiall "mass public" ready.

By looking at the sources on gitorious it seems some functionality is disabled (i.e "world clocks"). And I think the replacement is not tested enough for such a critical piece of SW. Otherwise it is always good to have one more open-source replacement.

I (well, merlin1991, he knows git more than I do) reverted the whole patchset, backgrounds disappeared regardless of whether the gconf key was true or false, which isn't acceptable.
