The problem i have is because i have disabled auto rotation for sygic (portrait only). With force rotation enabled in transitions.ini sygic crashes when i rotate my phone to landscape. thanks for the suggestion, but drive and smm10 both don't work. Got any other ideas?

When i enable auto rotation in sygic it works fine.

thanks for the last update and portrait mode, you guys rock!!!

What I would like to see if it is possible is that widgets in portrait mode can have a different size then when in landscape.

That would be useful for OMWeather.

You just do as you use to, the problem is that hildon-desktop crashes but hildon-status-menu is working so you can get statusmenu to connect to your network as you usually do. Then you connect with putty and change the gconf value switch off phone and use flasher to get it back into production mode.

Sometimes it might be buggy and you get old window views or something blocking the statusarea just reboot and be sure to just click the statusarea only and it should work just fine.

I just tried apt-get install --reinstall, but that didn't help. It's highly annoying that the device isn't stable, so it takes quite some time to go back and do some dpkg --configure -a, and again, and again...

I used this:
flasher-3.5 -f --flash-only=kernel -R -F RX-51_2009SE_20.2010.36-2_PR_COMBINED_MR0_ARM.bin

I hope you know how to use the flasher 3.5 on your desktop.
its the same like flashing but now you only flash the kernel, nothing else.

I did back up with the maemo backuptool. but when it was almost finished, the n900 went into a boot loop. it was end of the story.
I had to reflash the kernel to get it on again

For all using the flasher to enable R&D mode; it doesn't work OOTB with BackupMenu installed. When BackupMenu is installed, you cannot enter the update mode, because with an open keyboard BM is loaded. You have to slide to keyboard open just enough to reach the 'u' key, but NOT until it slides into the final position. I've read this here somewhere, and it helped me today.

Btw: i was not able to use the root shell from backup menu, could not logon as root or user because every time BM did something else/ the main menu kept coming back. But enabling USB networking / sshd from within BackupMenu and connecting from an openSuSE box with the quick and dirty / one-time USB settings did the trick.

I cant update to 16 so i decided to uninstall and install CSSU again, but it always failed to download 1 package. I think it's the "libwildmidi0_0.2.2-2maemi1." I tried to install it but it says "couldn't find the packag." Now, I got diffirent UI for camera, portrait mode in apps menu, on multitasking view, and more. I also got a problem with "resolving host timed out: downloads.maemo.nokia.com" on 3 catalogs. The "nokia applications," "nokia system software updates," and "ovi." What could be the problem with this. I can't successfully install CSSU on my phone. Btw, The "maemo CSSU about" isn't showing up in settings.

hi, I've got a strange problem. I had cssu installed, 93mb free rootfs space (my other N900 updated fine with 71mb) and I got the "go backup" message. I tried apt-get upgrade and it spits out that mp-fremantle-community-pr depends on qtquickcompat-0.1.0+cssu which after a search I realize is in (!) the cssu and nowhere else. I am confused.

I tried to manualy dpkg mp-fremantle-community-pr but it was left unconfigured and then removed when i "apt-get -f installe"'d

thank you very much and I'll appreciate any help

with vertical scrolling you can scoll your desktop vertical instead of horizontal in portraitmode. You can enable it with:

Code:

gconftool-2 --set /apps/osso/hildon-desktop/scroll_vertical -t bool true

dont work or must I restart device ?

I never flashed my N900 before, is everyting lost when i do flash? I have made backups, but those are on my n900 on there default location... It isn't lost with a kernel flash, but that doesn't work.

Re: The in-development Maemo 5 Community SSU

How come I've lost all icons and theming elements on my N900 after applying today's update?

Symptoms:
1) wallpapers and image files are there but are not displayed. All I have is black background, and magenta bar where window/menu button and clock used to be
2) no application icons whatsoever
3) no theming elements whatsoever
4) 'Calendar' application closed due to an internal error ALL THE FREAKIN' TIME every 30 seconds or so
5) The address bar in the browser is black on black background
6) The running dots animation at the startup gone

The syslog is full of this:

Code:

Hi,
not sure if the camera UI was supposed to be fixed in this update, however it hasn't changed for me:
When holding the camera in portrait, the UI elements rotate fine, but captured image is shown only in the top left quadrant of the screen, rest ist black. Picture taken is normal.
I've seen it discussed a lot (black-/whitelisting etc.), but I wasn't able to find out if it's already possible to exclude e.g. the camera app (and maybe some ohters, too) from auto-rotation?
Thanks, Ben

in transitions.ini file you have sth like that
blacklist =

so you shold write:
blacklist = camera-ui

and save the file, killall hildon-desktop and camera no more rotate ;)

This does not work for me.

Continue rotating the interface.

A minor update will be released soon (as in right after Qt finishes building and stuff)
It fixes some OpenGL upstream bug, which I think (?) fixes Kasvopus and other apps.

Calculator will be pulled in properly this time, hildon-desktop will have the whitelist, and the camera is blacklisted in the .desktop file

I did the CSSU Update and gosh, felt a lil bit of a relief from the constant Internal Error cause on the email software.... But seems like after the update, if i have a contact number that starts with + rather than 00 then it pops up a message as incorrect number in the SMS app... Is it just me or is there someone else facing the same?

Didn't help.
I got back to mp-fremantle-generic-pr which means downgrading about forty packages and removing some applications, took me about 1.5 hours. Had no reboots, I guess that's because of the old kernel without any additional tweaks.

UI is working again, now I'll try another upgrade to CSSU 16...:D
