taking pictures while holding the camera in portrait mode messes up the screen still, even while viewing photos...any fixes for this?

Also is it possible to condense your messages to fit in portrait mode so you won't have to scroll to the right or left to read them?

i am getting this error while updating to 16.5..
Unable to update "Maemo 5 community ssu package"
conflict with application packages: libqt4-test(1:4.7.4-git20110505+cssu3)
..what should i do now to install the package?

-i've remove the libqt4-test package. now its fine :)

@jafd: update-gdkpixbuf-loaders is called during libgtk installation for sure ,you can check here. I have no idea why your system was left in inconsistent state (suspect that dpkg configure step has failed silently), but it is not that installation package is broken. And re vkb - CSSU does not touch vkb or hildon-input-method in any way. Did you try to reinstall it?

Re how the testing is performed - I have been using libgtk + hd + Qt4.7.4 from CSSU 16 for more than a month on my 2 devices (one of them primary phone) and also those were installed on one more device(again primary phone). Believe me or not but noone from CSSU team/contributors has any will to break users' devices or to put them in a reboot loop. Do you remember when PR13 came out how many users has broken systems? And that is with Nokia testing the update for several months.
Only I can say to you is sorry for you problems, it is not something intentional. And if you can find what the root cause of your problem is I ( and I am sure lots of other people) will appreciate that.

GLES bug should be fixed in 16.5, i.e. kasvopus and co should no longer flicker

Updated to 16.5 -> works fine.
CSSU Features Configurator -> works fine.
It seems everything works fine but marble -> I can confirm that marble does not start.

I cant update to 16 so i decided to uninstall and install CSSU again, but it always failed to download 1 package. I think it's the "libwildmidi0_0.2.2-2maemi1." I tried to install it but it says "couldn't find the packag." Now, I got diffirent UI for camera, portrait mode in apps menu, on multitasking view, and more. I also got a problem with "resolving host timed out: downloads.maemo.nokia.com" on 3 catalogs. The "nokia applications," "nokia system software updates," and "ovi." What could be the problem with this. I can't successfully install CSSU on my phone. Btw, The "maemo CSSU about" isn't showing up in settings.

Thank you for the update, I have got (thankfully) no big issues, but some problems with apps (caused probably by the Qt upgrade):
Marble (as reported before)
qutim - starts, logs in, but crashes when I click the menu button
Grap - shows just black screen (this is the biggest bummer because I use it on daily basis and I don't believe the author will be much helpful, since it is a paid app)
CSSU Config - new version crashes with fatal error (also reported before)

That looks about right, yes. bluemaemo depends on the old version of the library, so installing the new one will remove it (and all the other libraries only it uses). You'll have to wait for bluemaemo to be updated before you can upgrade libeet1.

On my device some apps crash only if launched from portrait (CloudGPS, Neverball, Neverputt)
In portrait mode, in Contacts, if I try to add New contact I get something strange.

Some requests for upcoming CSSU versions.

The portrait mode doesn't work for me, everytime a newer CSSU version comes there's a new portrait mode somewhere and it's skipping from portrait to landscape and back and is just bothering and slowing me down. Still if I lock the device to landscape mode it doesn't work flawlessly either, incoming phone calls (that originally is in portrait mode and works there fine) are now in landscape mode and have reject button etc out of the screen! I'd like the "lock landscape mode" to be more like "keep the display orientation as it were originally". That worked the best. Now when even wallpaper is turning in portrait mode my icons get all messed up and that's no use!

When will we see some improvements on applications that could really help our daily use of the N900? Some blurness adjustments doesn't improve my user experience. When N900 was released, quite quickly there were discussion in brainstorm about improving the calendar ( http://maemo.org/community/brainstor...endar_in_n900/ ) ... Still, nothing has been done to improve the calendar functions. Yes, I use the calendar a lot and it's a pain in the ***.

Some bugs in my device (don't know if they're CSSU related or from somewhere else, and hard to say if someone has already discussed about these but this thread is way too long to read everything through.)
-Modest crashes into some internal error.
-Random "zoom's out" into the open applications view.

I don't mean to be ungrateful for all the work you have done, I just hope the work could be directed into some meaningful and not into some pixel pointing detail. And I'm sorry I'm not a coder myself that I could fix these myself. I haven't had any interest to write into brainstorms or such anymore since it seems it's no use as seen in the calendar improving section. Otherwise I would have loved to contribute to the community by testing and giving ideas for the future.

Hopefully my text made some sense since English isn't my native language and I'm under usage of heavy pain killers. I drove an enduro accident last Sunday where I broke my cheekbone and my jaw from two points and I just got out of hospital yesterday evening. My face is like a swollen football after all the operations... but hey... still alive and kicking... for other's misfortune. =)

I think there are too many ways to mess the transitions.ini.

Theme Cutomizer, CSSU Tuner, CSSU Features Configuration...

Right now, Theme Customizers and CSSU Features are not able to work together.

My proposal is to add a settings module or an application directly in the CSSU to control transitions.ini instead of depending on the update of external applications. This should be able to enable/disable all features and tune speed of effects.

This way we would avoid new breakages in future updates. It's also a nonsense to install these applications from extras without a dependency from CSSU.

I consider also that tweaking the theme configuration should be part of CSSU, by improving the settings module already included, at least for basic options such as changing theme as a whole, specify icon set, colours and fonts, and not mix it with transitions tweaking.

This is now more important as it seems that Theme Customizer and CSSU Tuner are unmaintained.

Most calendar related brainstorm entries require a full reimplementation of the calendar app. Writing a good calendar application is not easy.

Another option that worked for me is as follows: before launching camera, go to applets menu and set the "Orientation lock" to landscape. For me at least worked fine: it solved the left-up quadrant image when taking photos and also video recording dindn't become in a black screen after some random seconds.

don't know if i'm just lucky or what but i didn't get any debilitating bugs in CSSU. :) 16.5 is ok for me. oh, pressing fastsms's white button thingy makes it crash btw. i don't have kasvospus so can't comment on that one.
