Re: The in-development Maemo 5 Community SSU

Hi All

Does anyone have experience of the vibration support for the N900?
I installed tactile to enable tactile feedback within CSSU features, although instead of enabling the additional vibration feedback, it actually seems to have disabled the normal vibration feedback, both for calls/SMS and also normal touch screen vibration.

I have therefore uninstalled tactile in the hope that normal vibration support would return, but unfortunately it hasn't. I have rebooted several times and tried disabling and reenabling vibration in profiles and display settings, but still have no vibration.

Any advice someone can provide as to what I may need to do to get normal vibration support working again would be gratefully received as I rely on it during the day when at work and have the phone on silent.

Would someone who has modest crashing problem to install .deb from here and to report if there is any change.

EDIT: please reboot after installing it and before experimenting, just in case

There is one user testing this, so far no crashes. Please someone experiencing regular modest crashes to test it, so we can either confirm that at least one bug in modest is smashed or to continue searching for it.

Thanks.

GPS and friends are closed source and weren't touched in the CSSU.

I installed it too. Because I had occasional crashes, I will need some more time (2-3 days) to confirm if the issue is resolved for me.

That's what I thought... but what could be the problem that so many people don't get a gps lock anymore?

With respect to the security update in 16.8, are the Diginotar certificates that appear in Cert. Manager the one provided to correct/protect the issue by Mozilla or are they not meant to be there?

tried rebooting and removed the battery no joy unfortunately, it used to lock pretty quick before.
used location test and it says satellites in view 4, in use 0
made a backup with backupmenu just before updating going to restore with that.

Change location server from supl.nokia.com to supl.google.com
It seems that supl.nokia.com is not working anymore.

Same here, the problem appears when connecting to the vlc server, without connecting i have no problem, only uppon connection, on xterminal i get only a segmentation fault error when it closes.

I suffer (time to time) instability of modest so I installed your .deb.
In case modest will crash, should it generate a log (location?) or what should we (testers) do to get you needed info?

Thanks in advance for digging in to this problem.

Read https://gitorious.org/community-ssu/...hangelog#line3

It has to be fixed by Nokia.

Looks like you smashed it for my use case.

No crashes in over two hours and no more continual CPU spikes.

Good work!

Re: The in-development Maemo 5 Community SSU

First of all, a big thank you to all involved in cssu. With out you the n900 wouldn't be nearly as awesome.

But on to my question. After installing all of the latest updates to cssu, I am sufferiung constant reboots.
The phone does turn on, but reboots at unexpexted and unrelated times:
-phone calls about 5 secs in,
-when screen is shut off for more than 5 min,
-when I charge while the phone is on,
-and random times too.

I have so far tried:
-original transitions.ini
-turn off portrait vertical scrolling.

What am I missing? From what I read these were some of the causes? Idk, there was also someone who said that modest was crashing, but I thought I'd ask here before proceeding.

What can I do to better decribe the situation?
Is there anyone who has an idea?

Re: The in-development Maemo 5 Community SSU

can anyone else confirm the version shown in "About Community SSU" under Settings?

Mine still says maemo15 even though I have portrait calculator, non-rotating camera, updated certificates etc.

Is there a way from terminal to confirm the version I am running?

Many thanks

Re: The in-development Maemo 5 Community SSU

I was facing the 'connect to pc-suite' error message. Installed fapman along with a few other things and fapman was able to complete the upgrade to the latest cssu.

I want to say a huge thanks to all the devs who have put in their time, the latest release is fantastic, portrait mode desktops ftw :)

hmmm... 20.2010.36-2maemo15...

Just tried a apt-get update / upgrade from terminal and 13 packages are kept back, one being mp-fremantle-community-pr, the others are all libqtm-something.

...just tried with FAPMAN, said I had one package to install, the community-pr update. That failed to install with the following error: -

Re: The in-development Maemo 5 Community SSU

I had a broken packages problem which I managed to fix by firing up HAM and disabling various repos followed by a re-enable. I guess the forced refresh/update allowed the system to 'see' the broken packages again. More detail in a thread I started recently.

I believe I'm experiencing exactly this, until this moment I counted 3 random reboots. I wish I was able to pinpoint at least one |:(

I know it sounds weird, but I can keep the phone on for a while if I keep the screen running...

I'm at work now, but It was suggested to me on irc to boot r&d mode and install syslog to give devs a better idea of the issue.

Also installed this. Modest seems to be more stable. Mine used to crash immediately after adding a IMAP Yahoo mail account.

Now I've added one, and even though there was a crash after the first sync, it now syncs okay, and no other crashes so far.
